Hello everyone,
This is my first post, although I've read and enjoyed this forum many times before. I'd like to present my new bushcraft knife for those of you who may be interested in a handmade, US product. Here is a link with more pictures: https://www.bushcraftnorthwest.com/BCNW-O1/BCNW-O1.htm
and a link with more specs and pricing: http://www.shop.bushcraftnorthwest.c...2&productId=27

I'm happy to answer any additional questions for those interested. The knife will be available and ready to ship by the last week in June or the first week in July. I'm taking advance orders now for those who would like to be assured a knife from this first run of 50.

Many thanks,
Mike Lummio

Mike,

Welcome to Bladeforums. Just FYI, you can show your knives in here, but sales pitches etc, must go in the "Knifemaker for sale" forums only. The Wilderness Skills forum ain't that place.

Now that we have that out of the way, those are nice looking blades! But I gotta move your post...but come back to the Wilderness Forum anytime!

welcome to bladeforums mike... :D that's a great looking knife man... very mora-esque...

Many thanks to all of you for the kind words and warm welcome into Bladeforums. I made adjustments to many prototypes before this final design and couldn't be happier with the performance and comfort of this knife. I know it is a blade that will serve you well, and I'm thrilled to be able to share and discuss it with all of you here.

Thanks again,
Mike

I'd love to see pictures of the knife in the Wilderness Forum in action in the bush, and the results it gets! I'm really liking this - congrats on a great design Mike!

This has been such a positive experience for me...I just want to say again how much I appreciate the positive thoughts and support. Bladeforums really is a fantastic resource. I look forward to reading the reviews of my knife from those of you who have ordered one.

All the best,
Mike

Just curious, how did you come to choose bamboo as the wood? It's a great 'sustainable' material, but still not used much by knifemakers.

I chose bamboo because I was looking for a handle material and wanted to stay away from rainforest woods while still having a natural look and feel. One of the first prototypes was with micarta and I liked the toughness factor, but I didn't care for the aesthetics much on this particular knife.
Then I thought about bamboo...it's fairly easy on the environment and I love the look of it. I found some that was perfect for the job as it is made much like micarta. The individual fibers are separated and then it's all bound together under pressure with an industrial strength, formaldehyde-free adhesive. It can withstand 3,000 psi and is very resistant to the elements. A prototype was made using this material and I loved it. I think it's fantastic stuff...tough and beautiful. It's also easy for the customer to reshape for a custom fit if desired with some sandpaper and 0000 steel wool.

Hope I've answered your question alright. Thanks for your interest!

Sheath color is not a problem. Just let me know which color you'd prefer when you order and I'll have it made. Even horizontal and other style sheaths are possible, although they may be a few bucks more.

Sorry, but I'm not set up for PayPal. I accept Visa, MasterCard, most money orders, cash...

I'll work with you anyway I can so please call or email anytime and we'll figure something out.

Many thanks,
Mike
