Bushcraft vids

Just watched the first one. Discovery needs to fire Bear and Stroud, and give this guy his own show.

I watched these a while ago. Good info, well done. But goddamn, I hate that intro song...

Good stuff, thanks for the link. Gene

Yeah, I saw those a few weeks ago, good stuff.

I hear you on that intro song, gawd awful stuff. My girlfriend laughed for a good while when she heard it playing from the bedroom.

great vids.. i've spent hours on youtube, checking out bushraft/survival videos....:D

I love survivorman, but I could watch this guy all day long. He really seems to know his stuff.

Thanks for the links, they were quite enjoyable.

I think they should put him on disco and still keep the others. 1 for real info, 1 for info and entertainment, and 1 for what not to do and entertainment.

What I like about this guy, is that it is bushcraft and not survival. It's more like, "I have a backpack of supplies, how can I make camp life comfortable, and here are some skills that will make life more comfortable, whether you have 100lbs of gear or only a knife."

Survivorman is more of a survival show, were this guy is out for a week with only camera gear, a leatherman, and sometimes whatever gear might be involved in a unprepared local activity, like mountain biking or something.

I like them both because they are two different types of skills/entertainment. Would be cool to give this guy a show and keep survivorman.

He fits perfectly between Ray Mears and Les Stroud... not to much documentary/historical stuff like Mears tends to do... and packed with more detailed how-to's than Les's show (Although Les is trying to survive and film at the same time)... as far as "Jackass vs Wild" goes, his stupidity is interesting to watch for completely different reasons

I would like to find the series on DVD if possible... just press mute during the intro song. I've been singing that damn song for two days... someone slap me, please.

Rick

silly question but can one save those videos to view later without an internet connection, or can they only be played directly from the web site. not that computer savvy here.

I agree that intro song is terrible.

Also, this is available as a podcast on itunes

Sounds like a generic "Mrs. Robinson" meets Traffic.

Les makes his own (his primary profession), so he wins on that, and he has a gigantic head start on filmmaking and production values.
