Bushcrafters "Toothpick" Knife : )

Brian - you need more room between the start of the grind and the front of your handle.

Have you laid it down on a stone to try to sharpen it?

Try it and you'll see what I mean.

Just passing along some lessons learned.

Actually, it just barely squeaks by! Mainly because the scales are not that thick, and they have a slight backward taper.

But, I know what you mean. They are a touch too close for comfort and the next one will be just a touch back further. But just a touch.

Right...but the more you sharpen, the closer it gets - better safe than sorry.

Best of luck.

Not so much more distance as a change in angle. If the grind angle matched the angle of the handle it would be fine as-is.

Its a super looking knife. :) On the handle the biggest difference in philosophy between it and the stuff I make is that you have gone with flat slabs while I like to shape mine a little more.

I only stumbled on this thread by accident. The thing that had me laughing hard was that the handle of your knife looks a LOT like one of the for-runners of what I sent to Spyderco back in 2005 or 2006, even more than than it looks like what is now being shipped ;)

Evolution in design is a good thing!:D

Yeah, no matter what I end up doing, it is a minor tweak. It is one of the reasons that the "first" of any model is mine. I use it, play with it, tweak it, make sure I am cool with it, then let it go.
