Finished these up this morning, both are in redwood burl.

Specs:
9 1/4" overall
4 3/4" blades
1/8" O1 steel

Pricing:

Premium wood : ironwood, buckeye burl, redwood burl (limited amount) $190 + $8 shipping with no sheath
Standard handle material: $165 + $8 shipping with no sheath

These can be ordered now, with deliveries starting in late September.

Full grind SOLD

Scandivex grind (the handles looked to be a close match when I glued them on, but after sanding they really turned out different!) This is also available, but I doubt anyone will want it with the difference in handles

Spine shot really shows the difference.

Those are some Really nice looking pieces! I would post them in the outdoors section in the gear sub. Ask for input, I am sure you would get a bite from there.

Personally, I like the differing scales. I think it shows the wide character and variety that is inevitable in a wooden scaled knife.

These look to complete with the Becker Tweener (BK15/16/17). A busy field, but only because a lot of people want something in that size.

I bumped the old thread looking for pics then found this one lol. They look damn good John. Well done sir. and priced very well!

From the comments I got from the outdoor forum it looks like these would need a lot of changes to be popular. Looks like I won't be offering these.

I like them too! I want one in Tan Micarta with a liner... Don't know which color
Im real tempted to go ahead and put one order I like it so much.

??? What's there to change? Looks like a solid design. I personally would want micarta handles but I think the pattern looks like a good choice for a woods bumming knife.

Personally, I prefer the grinds on those shown above. A true scandi as requested by those in WSS really doesn't do well in the kitchen. I prefer a good grind that can do bushcraft as a seondary function. If one needs a dedicated bushcraft knife, do as Kochanski does. Get a Mora :p.

IIRC, Nessmuk and Kephart didn't use a Skookum Bushtool.

Don't pigeonhole those as bushcrafters. Make it one of your staple offerings. Call it a Camp Utility or something else. If you enjoy making it, keep at it. Let sales determine whether or not it gets dropped.

I'm with Rupestris, "bushcraft" for me is a very secondary function - the more I mess around the more I find there is a place for scandi (and saber) but the flatter the grind the more use I get out of a knife. More use = more fun.

I really like this design, it reminds me of a beefier Hiker!

With no ill-intent meant putting the quotes around bushcraft of course!

vagabond ... woods roaming knife ... coureur des bois .... bushcraft on the internet has become a fad and lost all meaning. I am a little grumpy working these 16 hours shifts on the Mad River Complex on my District since we are now on fire.

I know what won't work in my line of employment, so I came to JK for a solution.

They were not negative, but a lot of changes were suggested. Taller blade, shorter blade, thicker blade, longer handle. Basically a different knife.
