No worries on the ESEE patch, as long as there is a Becker one there too ;), which I see there is sooo...Bully for you!!

Nice playground you have there. Good on you for keeping your skills sharp. Must be nice to still see ground in December lol. Thanks for sharing MM!

Looks like you had a really good time out there. Cool pics! Thanks for sharing ;-)

Great thread mountainmist!
thanks!
Excellent day out MM, and great pics. How was the tea?

The tea was.....Ok, I guess I forgot to include the pic with all the crap in the tea LOL, I would have used the pot but the results would have been the same with out the lid (the lid was being used on the bannock) but all in all it as edible! one cup of pine needle tea has 5x the amount of vitamin C required in a day.

Cool post, MM. I think you're making all of us old guys a little nostalgic....I know personally I used to play outside nearly everyday. I wasn't lucky enough to have a firesteel (or a nice knife, for that matter) though; probably a good thing as I was grounded once or twice for fire related infractions just the same. Thanks for the photos.

Any day out in the woods is a good day. Looks like fun and great pictures. I've never had pine needle tea, I'll have to try that.

Be sure to dilute it with sugar first :D. we have a wild mint patch on our place and I much prefer the mint tea to pine needle but like I said, one cup of pine needle tea has 5x the daily requirement for vitamin C

Looks like a good little getaway. That bread (?) looks mighty tasty. Never tried that before. Your lucky to have so much land to play around on. BTW those are "interesting" looking scales on your 16...

Here's the recipe for the Bannock

Basic Bannock Mix
1 cup flour (white or a mixture of white and whole wheat)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup of dry milk powder or water
raisins (if you want)
and I sprinkle sugar on it when I'm done

I made the scales myself with a piece of maple and a file, they work fine for being home-made by a kid :)

Thanks for the kind words!
