... rhymes with machete.
Bushete.jpg

The "Bushette" is a light weight economy version of the Bush Buddy, hand forged from 1095 high carbon steel with an integral socket handle. The overall length is 20 inches. The blade is 1/8 inch thick by 2-1/8 inches wide by 12 inches long. The handle wrapping is woven cotton cord sealed with shellac and a top coat of frankincense rosin.

That's just sweet! Thanks for sharing! At 0.125" x 2.125", it must cleave with the best of them.

Any pics of it cleaving?

Thanks!

I haven't taken any pics of it cleaving, but I did test it out some,... WOW!
I'd love to be able to keep this one to use around the yard, shop and lane.

Really like the blade profile, at 1/8" I bet it really slices clean

just checked out your website!

nice blade.....like a modern take on a chinese horse chopper! love it!

1/8" X 2.25" wide??? Holy moley....can you actually chop with it? What is the primary bevel angle? I'd think just behind the edge is VERY thin for chopping unless its a steep convex grind or something of the sort....enlighten me! I never use 1/8" for big blades because Ive always feared a full strength chop could easilly deform the edge, if not the entire blade.

It has a convex bevel and edge, no distal taper on the back, a reverse distal taper on the edge ( the edge is thinnest towards the choil area and thicker towards the point. It is also differently heat treated with a hard edge, springy middle section and a soft back. The 1095 edge is tempered to between a Rockwell 56-58 for strength, toughness and easy sharpening in the field.

The edge is sharp enough to cleave a standing hair,... tree top!

I tested it out on some seasoned hardwood,... and it chops like a MoFo!

Hey Mon!

I was starting to have a shedding problem and an itchy crown chakra, so I decided to harvest some edge testing material! It should be enough to last me a while.

It's a great gig when you can get it! :)

Nice one Tai,

Bet it feels good to get that hair off. Bet your head felt like it was floating:)

One thing is for sure. If you ever decide to give up knives, you could get a job playing the Grinch :D. Especially the pic last Christmas :D Gotta love it.

Hey Mark. The only problem is,... now I have to wear a hat to keep my head warm.
