Bushkabobs

Well that's another idea for me to store away for a weekend. Looks like a good day out was had by all. Nice to see the family getting involved to.

You're in good company with the Bushkabobs, Ray Mears likes to carry some salami and I think some tomatoes with which he knocks up a kabob and adds it to his bush salad. There should be a video on youtube but my searches can't find it.

Nice job, Mist. I expect that in the not too distant future, there will be pictures of you cooking with a wok! :D

Years ago, I read an article in a backpacker magazine about a woman who did all her backpacking cooking with a wok. She said that she could cook, eat, and clean up before her hiking mates would have their food cooked.

She also suggested that the wok was designed by Asian peoples to cook over the fire, especially in the case of migrant workers.

Great idea, and the hens looked great too. My wife is getting into all this stuff with me, so I'm sure if I show her this she'll show up unprompted with the ingredients :D

Thanks for sharing!

I like a nice wok in the woods (groannnn :D)

Really though, a wok is pretty handy, and I've read articles about "Mexican woks" in Backwoodsman and similar mags... they're used pretty much the same way. My people were partial to a big ol' cast-iron skillet, not that different, really. I suspect most cultures have something pretty similar. I don't care to pack a wok on my back, but in a canoe or car... heck yeah!

I am picky, when I saw and handled the GSI I just tucked it under my arm and would not let go.
I have been using it at home for just about every thing. Non Stick!!!! Side benefit the cover can be a bowl/plate and fits the Primus frying pan also non stick [Pan cakes you know:p]

Thanks, looks like my amazon account will be being used again soon...think I'll get one of the nine inch ones. I'll see if I can modify that handle so that it has a detachable one for ease of packing.

Forgot to mention this earlier...actually she, like me, has a great interest in cooking. I strive to keep her mind open in this subject and she actually helps me a lot.

Great stuff buddy but maybe next time you could place another forked stick in on the otherside for the chickens so your poor daughter doesn't have to hold them for 2 hours !!!!:D:thumbup:

James,

Some of the subsistence fisherman down in Baja use wok-shaped hubcaps for beach fire cooking. Is that what you read about for a "Mexican Wok"? With a pair of pliers for a handle, it ought to work OK.

Lol, she wasn't holding the weight of the chicken up all of the time....it was balanced so she was holding the weight of the stick up some times...not as bad :D , besides I held it myself most of the time.

Hmmmm, bet an old VW hubcap would work.

As long as there's no chrome or other metal treatment (zinc coating or galvanizing-type stuff) on the inside, I would think that a burn-out and some steel wool would do the trick.

Personally, I would leave the VW letters where they are!:D
