Now paid with PP.
I like the look of this knife even more than the larger Bush-Ido posted a couple of weeks ago. the long swages on both sides help make this one very attractive.
Brian Andrews rated Rick's knife as "Best" (and fantastic, amazing, incredible too) in the "Camp Knife Challenge Test" in the Wilderness forum (with Bruce Culberson's knife a close second). so i'm really looking forward to getting this one in hand to experience it's fine quality and abilities.

I have the Bush-Ido :D and while we may never agree on which one looks the best, I will tell you that you are in for one "heckuva" treat, and that is putting it mildly.:cool:

My initial impression of Rick's knives was that they looked 'rather primitive' and were 'quite expensive'.
However, then i read this thread by Brian Andrews: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=687445.
Brian goes to a huge amount of work to carefully detail all aspects of Camp knives submitted by 11 different makers. i highly suggest reading it, as it certainly is one of the best BF threads of all time.
Rick's knife came out on top because it had no short comings and excelled in all areas. Brian says things like: "by feel this thing is amazing", "sharpest of the bunch", "extremely comfortable to hold" and " I am just in love with this knife" .
so i realized my initial impressions were entirely wrong and watched for a knife of Rick's to become available, and then luckily bought this one.
my impressions now: this an extremely well finished, well designed, well made knife, of scary sharpness and perfect balance in hand; the work of a true Master knifesmith.
the price is absolutely reasonable and i will not part with this knife and sheath for anything under $2000.
the sheath is as impressive as the knife.
Rick's pics are good but the full character of this imposing, beautiful, yet nimble knife does not fully come through.
i believe Rick makes the finest user Camp style knives of anybody in North America, and maybe of anybody, period.
i have zero doubts that should you ever get one of Rick's knives, you will be in full agreement.
of note Bruce Culberson's Camp knife came in second. both are Canadian knife makers.
Rick's words of encouragement to me: "don't be afraid to use that puppy, eh ? she can take it"
simply put: get one, you will never regret the expenditure.
