Bushmaster Pays Money to Victims of Sniper

I wanna buy one of them Ted Kennedy assault cars. He was able to kill more people with it than I have with any of my evil guns.

:p

The pre-ban ones came with stock hood ornaments and mag wheels. :p

Brantoken, the truth, not your opinion, is that so called assault weapons are used in 1% of crime.

A man with a shotgun could do as much or more harm than one with a semi automatic rifle with certain cosmetic features. Once you go down this path, there is no 'safe' gun.

The answer is in a armed society, not a disarmed civilian pop.

Anyway, the Truth gainsays you- semi auto's with large capacity mags have been sold nearly all over the US since the ban, and crime has dropped.

btw, I'm going to tell your neighbor what you think of him.

PS, I grew up in the LA area. I was there during the riots. Just ask a Korean grocier what he thinks of your logic and gun bans.

That's because they are hard to conceal and tend to draw attention to the one who is carrying them. Assault weapons are used mostly for office massacres.

Now I suppose somebody will accuse me of being opposed to massacres. Well I'm not. I find them extremely entertaining and would rather watch a good massacre story on the news any day than some politician spouting lies and nonsense.

Obviously, next to a good hurricane, many American's enjoy an episode on TV of, "going postal'.

You're right about hard to conceal. Even with folders they are bulky. Bad guy stuff is close quarters- handguns and sawed off shotgun time.

For ten years civilians have been prohibited from buying new standard capacity magazines, but at the same time the number of LEO/Criminal shootouts have continued to steadily increase in the number of shots fired.

Often ten or fifteen shots are fired by officers only to result in a single hit. The other 9 to 14 shots are simply flyers that do not hit what they were aimed at, and increase the probability of injury or death occurring to innocent bystanders.

We must stop this indiscriminite use of mass firepower used by gangs of officers firing simultaneously. Remove their temptation to spray and pray and return to the old days of issuing 6 shot revolvers.

We can't do anything to stop the criminals from carrying excessive ordnance, but we can at least prevent LEO's from adding to the danger in the streets!

Do it for the children!!!

( Just in case someone's not reading the above too carefully, let me say this is all done tongue in cheek!!! ) :p :p :p

had me goin for a second there, Russ.......

:footinmou **very gullable**

What's funny, Dan, is that though Rusty was kidding, many experts felt after the introduction of wondernines we should return to the service revolver.

Too many misses!!!

If you only had six- well, you get the idea- you might actually have to be a good shot.

There would be nothing wrong, in my mind, with one officer carrying a high power revolver and the other a high capacity carbine.

Shooting through a car door would be a good thing.

ignorant question = swat and other groups are allowed automatic weapons, right? but your standard LEO only a semi?

Anyone that can pass the class III licenseing requirements, can pay for and lives in a state that allows automatic weapons can have licensed Class III weapons.

LE Organizations and military can purchase for the departments use weapons manufactured after 1986, but they (the department or service) retain ownership of them, but they still must be properly licensed (the weapon that is).

It is my understanding that at least here in Louisville, the Metro SWAT teams are issued their weapons and have them in their possession.

That's State to State, county to county, city to city. Sometimes there might be a full auto locked it the trunk of the squad car or by the dash; or such weapons may be issued by the department where they are stored per need, like a potential bad bust or riot.

There really isn't much use for full auto for a cop. The weapon may have that ability, but almost always the selector switch would be set to semi.

I studied crimal justice for a brief time in college. Son't quote me on any of the numbers because its been a few years since i heard the figures to this case. a couple years back there was a fairly high profile case where 5 or 6 LEOs stopped or raided the room of a black male. The young man was from africa i think and supposedly didn't understand the customs of US law enforcement. When the officers came in with guns drawn he believed that his ID was the first thing that he should produce for the police...not get flat on the floor, shut up, and let the cops do the seaching. He reached for his wallet in a coat pocket or his back pocket or something and the police opened up on him with glocks. Sadly, they killed the guy, and legal action was taken for a wrongful death. Turns out that it was a real gray area. The guy wasn't exactly a saint and the cops were a bit hasty in their draw. Live and learn. Stuff happens like that when you think your life might be in danger. My criminal justice prof told us that the LEOs did get in trouble for killing the guy, but that they actually got in even WORSE trouble when their chief found out that they had collectively fired something like 40 something rounds, but the guy was only hit less than 14 times from 7 feet or so. i agree that the police do need to have hi cap mags and weapons to keep us safe, but thats kinda scary that the police were that bad of a shot when a perp is stationary and they are only a few yards away.. with glocks! Anybody else here of stuff like that or am i making stuff up:) Like i said, its been a while since i read the numbers.

Jake

That sounds like the guy killed in NY on the stairwell to his apt by many armed officers.

Thanks, Munk. Thats sounds about right. Like i said, i'm not up to snuff on the details of gun cases... or anything for that matter. I just would hope that a person that is suppose to protect the citizens of this country would be able to hit a man-sized target (whether he be guilty or not) consistantly. Or at least better than 39% or whatever.

A short action Marlin 94 carbine in 357 paired with a 357 revolver or for that matter a 30-30 or 35 Remington with 1.5 to 5 power scope could produce devastating on-target results fast and without PR problems.

Yup. I've had that combo since about 1980 or so, don't recall when I got the Marlin for sure.
I got the Ruger Security Six when I lived in Oregon. It had been nicely worked over and has a very crisp but light trigger on single action.
It's like an extension of my arm; every time I take it out, which isn't often, I can still walk a can with it on single action; double action is close enough for wet work.;)

I would still love to have a Walther P-38 though, there's just something about that gun I love.:D

I wish I had a Broomhandle Mauser. I missed the Security Six when it was available. Great gun.

The incident was 2 plains-clothed officers who pulled their firearms on an unsuspecting passer-through....

IIRC, 47 shots were fired. He was dead after the first two hits which came within the first dozen rounds fired. So, you have two officers who can't hit a dead target. The puzzling part for me was that with so many rounds fired, they surely had to take time to reload. Would they not have had time to assess that no shots had been fired back?

Ok....back to the discussion....

Anybody ever had an auto rifle pointed at 'em w/finger-on-trigger, getting verbally threatened? I have. Several times actually. First time was 12 years ago and I was just a few feet away from the end of the barrel. Last time (so far :( ) was in DC and was about 15 feet away. Oops....there goes rules 1 & 2....

Note: in neither case was I acting in a suspicious manner.....just wrong place, wrong time.

Sure did awaken the senses, though.......:(

I love those Ruger revolvers.

I learned to shoot with a single six, about when I was in kindergarden. My dad taught me early to respect and understand firearms. However, at the time I remember thinking that the noise of that short barrel going off had to be about the loudest thing on earth.

I have always kept my eye on the vaqueros and blackhawks. Here, any flat walled cartridges can be used to hunt deer, that or slugs, muzzleloaders and bows, no rifles.

Those sixguns are just built so solid, and have a better safety mechanism. So much nicer that a S&W... :p

I like Rugers, too, Jebadiah, don't tell Rusty! ( I like Smith also)

Dan, I had a riflle pointed at me and fired when I was in my twenties. Later, during the LA Riots, a black man's car wasn't moving when the light changed, so after a few moments, I honked. The driver reached under his seat, stepped out with a trenchcoat on and one hand in a pocket and started screaming at me. I was blocked by his car in front and another car that pulled up behind me in back.
