bushranger high end vs. entry one...

Bush Ranger in the pocket all day. It’s in my top ten folder rotation. And I got a lot more than ten.

:D
yep. like you Sir i have lots of brands and models, and the upgraded bushranger gets a lot of pocket time since I got it. its high on my list of best ever, too. great design and just works well. plus one of the few cold steels folder knives I didnt have to tinker with scales or pocket clip to carry and use right out of the box.:)

I got one and while it is a nice folder, I tend to like my AD10 a little better seems more refined to me. The button or latch to push in to fold the knife is so stiff I almost have to use two hands to push it in to drop the blade, and sometimes have because my finger gets so sore. I wonder why it's like that, I have others that are a little stiff but nothing like this one. I tend to leave it in the knife box and carry my 4Max Scout or AD10 lately.

I don't want to derail the thread, but since Mr. Wallace joined us here, I have to laud another of his knives, this beautiful work of art.

The Immortal is one of those unrecognized, unheralded Cold Steel models that people just didn't notice...but should have. While it doesn't appear to be so, it's an extremely comfortable knife to wield. It doesn't have the sculpted ergonomics of the Bush Ranger folder, but for a slab-sided pocket knife, it's remarkably nice to grip--in my opinion, on par with the Recon 1. As with the Bush Ranger folder, I admired the Immortal's looks from the beginning, but it wasn't until I got it in hand that I really came to appreciate the design.

The blade is a very clever adaptation of the Americanized tanto (with all of that design's benefits) that also incorporates the attributes of a miniature gladius, which of course it's emulating. Plus it just looks cool, and very unusual. It's a knife that definitely stands out from the crowd!

Thank you! I really saw potential in that design and would’ve loved to have a clip point version as well as having the scales be matte and not glossy.

I agree that your Storm Cloud is another underrated model, and you should be proud of it! The light weight and the premium materials make it both functional and elegant. I carry it routinely when I'm going out dressed up.

Dang y’all are gonna give me a big ego! Only kidding, I’m a pretty humble guy preferring to be “behind the scenes”. I guess that’s why I never got involved for so long. I didn’t want to appear as though I was tooting my own horn, and that’s definitely not my style. I know my designs aren’t for everyone and I’m not a household name like some of the big guys in the business, and that my friends is why I’m so gracious and truly appreciative of the kind words and warm welcome. Thank you!

I'd argue that it was makers such as yourself who were willing to create out-of-the-ordinary knives, along with Lynn Thompson's keen eye for talent and his desire to take his company in directions that other manufacturers wouldn't dare to tread, that helped to make Cold Steel such a powerhouse in the industry. Many of us don't want a rehashed Delica, Griptilian, or Sebenza.

OK, I'll ask the burning question. Are you still designing for Cold Steel, Never Unarmed, both, neither? How has the sale of Cold Steel impacted you?

Please understand that I'm not being nosey. Since the sale, no one moderates this subforum and we have gotten no information about what Cold Steel's future looks like (beyond the superficial, thirty-second YouTube commercials). Believe it or not, a lot of us fans actually care about what's become of the people who helped to make Cold Steel.

Yes I was offered a job to stay with Cold Steel and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue with GSM as the new owners. I’ve been welcomed warmly and get to work with some other very talented individuals that are very passionate about the brand.

Excellent! I'm very glad to hear that. Please keep 'em honest to the Cold Steel vision over there at GSM.

Please keep up the great designs, and don't forget to let us know how things are going for you. When appropriate, we'd love to see new stuff you're working on.

That is great news!

I have both sizes of the Luzon series and they are excellent knives.
The XL is definitely one of the funnest budget knives I own.
