Bushwacker or FBM CG.

So... spend the money on the Bushwacker or hunt down a deal for an FBM CG? Either one would be a user. Just trying to figure out which would be a "wiser" purchaser. Sucker would be strapped to the side of my pack and used as fit for "general" tasks.

Thanks for any input.

I'm holding out for an NMFBM on the exchange just because I do a lot of heavy chopping and less light brush work.

There's only one true answer for this question...

BOTH.

...But seriously, for what you posted, I'm thinking that the lighter BWM, if it is indeed lighter (seen no weight posted), might be the better choice. The BWM would be the cheaper choice if you are looking for a new or very slightly used CGFBM.

+1, Good advice from Jaxx's lair...

I sold my FBM and FFBM. You really don't need all that weight to chop fairly well. I'd say get that Bushwacker while the getting is good. Its lighter weight make it faster in the hand for slashing and clearing vegetation. No, it won't have the power of a heavier one chopping hard wood, but it will get the job done. It's a more versatile knife, IMO.

Cheapest Mistress you'll ever buy will come from the shop.

A BM for under 4 bills :thumbup:, grab it !

Like Jaxx said, check the exchange, doubt you'd find a user CG FBM for the price of the BWM.

$0.02
:D

Snag this up while you can, you won't find a FBM on the exchange for under $400.00.

This will do everything a CG FBM will do.

really a no-brainer huh.

Your looking at 362.00 shipped for the BWBM, you will never find a CGFBM for that price, NEVER!!!!

But maybe this will help drive the prices of the FBM's down a litlle bit, I hope so for all the flippers.:p

The thing that somewhat s*cks is the fact that I find the CG FBM as def. more aesthetically pleasing - it has much nicer lines.

:)

Order the BWM as the others have said you will never find ANY FBM that cheap. ;)

Likely you will beable to buy almost 2 BWM for the price of one FBM.

Price isn't everything. I'd rather pay more for the one I really want.

Most of the chopping I do, I prefer a mean heavy chopper as I don't often chop through light vegetation, and if I am, I'll use a 8 dollar machete to do so.

Well I am Bias because I already have a CGFBM I guess. :D

I did order 2 BWM though.

That said i've been staring at the bushwacker for the past hour wondering if I should just pick one up anyway.

This idea that only ridiculously fat choppers will chop is ludicrous. My M9LE is a heck of a chopper. One of the best choppers I own is my crazy thin (by Busse standards) Cold Steel LTC Kukri. In fact, that thin knife out-chopped EVERY SINGLE Busse family knife I owned at the time during a little comparison I did a few months ago.

Get the bushwacker - if you decide you don't like it, you will be able to sell it for what you paid, and put the money towards an FBM. If you miss out on the bushwacker now, you'll end up paying $500 for one on the scalper market.

I'm sure the BWM will be able to chop wood no problem.

Ask Horn Dog how the thinner machete blades chop through wood.

But that's a Khurki though. :D

Don't even get me started on how well they chop, I have 14 HI Khurkies. :D

In some of the threads i've posted i've asked comparisons on the various mistresses. It seems, the bigger the better and the NMFBM came out on top with the FFBM coming below it. I'm sure this bad boy will chop like crazy, BUT i'm rather certain a heavier blade will chop better with the right edge on it. I can chop all day long, so the weight of the knife doesn't bother me.

Honestly, another thing kind of stopping me is the handles, i'm really not digging the texture. I'm sure i'll order one eventually after mulling it over for a bit.

I have a THIN convexed machete, it chops like a MACHINE, until getting into thicker, harder stuff. For that, a convexed cg ash-1 actually outchops it, atleast for me.

A machete will chop thick hardwood just fine - you just need good technique for it.

You gotta understand something when asking for opinions around these parts - as a group, the HOGs are generally OBSESSED with huge, fat, heavy knives. They regularly use knives that are eight times bigger and twelve times heavier than needed for the job. The opinions you're going to get about which knife is best will almost always be skewed towards whichever one is fattest or longest.

Heck some of the optioned out Tank Busters will be going for that much. ;)

I would say at least $500 after the run is over.
