Bushwacker... the perfect big Busse?

I think this thing has replaced the NMSFNO as my favorite big Busse. I'll have to use it a bit more to know for sure, but so far it's edging out my former favorite.

For only a 13 gram increase over the NMSFNO (593 vs 606g), the BWBM has an extra two and a half inches of blade, chops just as well, probably better, and has a more lively balance in hand, making it better for brush clearing and machete-like duties.

The only thing I find better about the NMSFNO is the more comfortable hand-shaped micarta handles, and the lack of the severe downward curve at the rear talon holes, which gives the classic Busse Pinky when chopping. For the extra length and essentially no weight penalty, I will GLADLY take that trade-off.

The Bushwacker might be the best big Busse I've ever seen or held. And since it's available in combat grade with simple micarta handles, it's a brilliant user knife.

If you camp, hike, or build fires, you should have one of these knives

It is also a great SD knife as it's light enough and fast enough in hand. With that 10 1/4" blade it also has a ton of reach.:cool:

Outstanding all around large Bowie style blade. :)

I am not sure about the Bushwacker - but I have not held one yet :D.....Excellent for the price point for sure, AND easily available!

However this is my current favorite BM - :):D

When a potentially violent situation comes up where a 10.5" bladed knife is even a good solution I am likely to be thinking about pistols or a rifle. To each their own.

Thank you for posting the mass of both knives, I have been curious about that for some time. Without handling both, I still prefer the NMSFNO.

I had a NMSFNO and didn't care for it, ended up trading it.

I don't have a BWM yet, but hopefully will soon. I think it will be a great chopper

That's sweet! I love those EU handles. Don't own any though. I'll trade you a BWM for it! JK ;)

I wish I had enough land to worry about owing a good chopping knife. I have all of five small trees on my land.

For only a 9 gram increase over the NMSFNO (593 vs 606g), the BWBM has an extra two and a half inches of blade, chops just as well, probably better, and has a more lively balance in hand, making it better for brush clearing and machete-like duties.

When I went to school that worked out to a 13 gram difference. :-)

Seriously, the reason I ordered one, is that I fully expect it to be my favorite of the BM's. I had a CG that Ban had smoothed, satined and convexed that was pretty awesome, and I think this one will be similar in weight.

I am apparently behind the times, because I still think the CGIA (Combat Grade Internal Affair) would be the perfect large Busse. With a 10 inch blade, and total weight of 9.5 ounces, it would do the trick for me very nicely.

 My BWBM, with a .189 blade, is over 21 ounces. What's the thickness on that thing?

That looks like it would be an extremely comfortable handle.
