Bushwhacking in the Australian bush #2

I've never minded snakes very much, they just don't ring that internal primal alarm in me like they do some people, BUT, large spiders will give me the creeps for quite a while- I'll have to slap at every itch or bead of sweat that I feel move down my back with images of the beginning of the Raiders of the Lost Ark in my head.
As soon as you showed that funnel web my thoughts of how awesome that hike would be turned right into NO WAY!

I guess I'm gonna have to start eating a second bowl of wheaties every morning and learn to deal with the big web makers.

We have a bunch of these around our place. Their webs are amazingly strong. A mates pic...

And millions of these speedy little dudes. Took the pic just inside our sliding door. That beetle is about an inch long. Had one crawl out of my guitar amp just recently and it was larger than my hand! I reckon it had an 8-9 inch leg span. I made one of those involuntary little baby squeals!! Managed to catch it on a broom and put it outside.

I must admit however, there are some things that I do not miss from my years in Oz. Like walking into spiderwebs that felt like they were constructed from 40lb fishing line, then coated with high-tack, permanent, spray adhesive.

I live in an urban jungle so these picture threads are fascinating for me and highly entertaining.

Thank you for sharing with us and letting me live vicariously for a little bit. Very, very beautiful landscape!

Rob, those pics are CREEPY!

I'm fortunate enough to be licensed to carry a handgun here, I can safely say that if I carried there that I'd have to live in a rural area so that the neighbors wouldn't be complaining about all of the shooting I'd be doing.
AND I'd never let go of the pistol with the size of the creepies that you posted😳

I get the creepy crawlers every time I open this thread[emoji887][emoji888][emoji887][emoji887][emoji887][emoji887]
