rjd, I would agree with a lot of what you said, but there are quite a few Marines out there who realize the value of good equipment and if they can get away with it (uniformity wise) they are going to spend the money. Especially in the GWOT. I am sure this goes for other branches as well.

Not just marines either! I see a lot of benchmade and spyderco, and randall knives, buck strider. and a few m9 bayonets. They are starting to stock much better cutlery at the px around me.
