Very nice, is the front talon hole ground off? Most apprentice busses I've seen have had them ground off, this one doesn't look quite like that.

i have seen this style of wrapped handle before. where can i get the instructions to do a wrap like this?

Eric, That's a tough one for me to answer as I don't have another steel heart to compare. It has a "bump" but no talon hole, and I think you can see the hole lanyard hole but no talon hole in the handle. I'm trying to decide whether or not to have it micarta'd or leave the strider wrap, or maybe do some G-10.:D

Also the grind is symetrical unlike the asymetrical grind on my BM-E.

Skunk,
Here's a link to do the wrap.:D Strider Wrap

That's what it looked like to me also. The one's I've seen actually had the talon hole at one time and before they left the shop the talon hole was ground off, signifying it as an Apprentice.

You could actually see the uncoated grind marks that removed the talon hole.

Looks like a great user. :D:D

Eric, this arrived today. My new Mean Street Apprentice:D :D

Great finds!!! :D

That SH is really something....the apprentice did a great job on it :)

The lanyard hole in the rear is like the ones on the bird-beak pommels of early SH's, but there doesn't appear to be a bird-beak pommel on this one. They may have added it just to facilitate the wrap. Very interesting :)

That MS is also very well done! That's one of the best-finished apprentices I've seen :D

Thanks for all the kind words... I really like the feel of the MS I'v got to get another.

Andrew, the hole in the tang of the SH was there before the coating was applied. Thinking of sending it in for micarta:D
