I recently acquired a Busse ASH 1 "Hog". When I got it, I found the words, "JaSwine Richmond" stamped o the side of the blade. Does anyone know or have any knowledge on this version? Did Busse put out this knife? Just lookng for some background on it. Never seen or heard of this before. Thanks, Mike

I believe that the original owner's name here is Jason Richmond. "JaSwine Richmond" is his inducted HOG name. See, in 2007, we were offered a deal on this edition if we met the requirements... Purchase 1 CGASH-1 & 1 LEASH-1 at original price (or 2 LEASH-1's) from Busse, and be an inducted "HOG" (collector's club sort of thing) and get this HOG Anniversary Steel Heart 1 version for the original cost of a Steel Heart 1 which was originally released in 1992 for $167. All of these were lased with the owner's HOG name...

This one is mine.

Hope this helps ya. :)

There was a special when that model was originally offered.

The order combo included an LE version, a standard (CG) version, and then a HOG version, which would have your official HOG name on it.

I think the HOG version was also available alone outside the package.

No so, Hammy. :) Here's Jerry's post below.

Jaxx, gunfixrjoe, & thatmguy....Thanks so much for the info! At least now I know what I got. Sucks some other guys name is on it, but its none-the-less still one heck of a hunk of INFI! "Paint dont make it run"! Thanks again.

Well gunfixrjoe....you still knew more than I did! And I see that about Jaxx!!.....Freakin' Busse Encyclopedia!! LOL!!! :).....As long as I have some attention......Anyone interested in a satin ASH 1 and/or skinny ASH? Thanks guys.

Knifehunter......(we think alike!) I DID consider that! Busse wants $125 to do so!...Im thinkin about it..Thanks....But isnt that laser etching into the steel? Would grinding be required??

Good point Knife Hunter, sending a Busse to the shop to have it recoated is an option.
It may be on vacation for a while but you could have that ASH any way you like it.

Perhaps you could track down the original owner, and see if they want to buy it back? Unless of course it was the original owner you bought it from.

I had to sell my HOG ASH-1 because I was seriously in need of cash, and decided that I had to keep my main users and everything else had to go.

If my finances improve though, I would love to be able to buy back that knife. I know that mine has changed hands a couple of times now.

Just a thought...

If you guys ever see one that says Buy Bacon on it, that was mine that was stolen in Atlanta :)
I have a replacement but the original is still floating around out there somewhere (along with 5K of other stuff)

I kinda think that if it is a user, what the heck, it doesn't matter and if not then the knife has some provenance...

I imagine that 100 years from now hogs will be on the forum saying things like..."oh, yes, that was Rob Stanley's legendary MOAB, he used the heck out of it and it is as sharp as the day it left the factory...."

This was my instant thought! Still bummed about your loss!

Didn't we also have to take a solemn vow to Jerry himself that we would never sell our HOG ASH-1 knives? Passing them down to grand piglets is fine, but no selling!
