I have desired to have a Battle Mistress from the minute I saw the FBM destruction test, on Knifetest.com.
After some time and effort, selling various possesion's, Jaxx posted 2 NMFBM at a resonable price on the Exchange, and I was able to get one of them. This knife is a Beast, not to mention a handful, even for me.
I have not had the chance to use it yet however, need a good carry option. I can't decide what would be the best way to carry it, and would like some input from the forum. I was thinking something different then just a side/leg sheath and need some idea's. Any input would be appreciated.
I would also like to Thank Jaxx, for making this possible. Jaxx ( Alex ) was Professional all the way and a pleasure to deal with. I can see why the NMFBM/FBM are so desired by everyone and why it is a "Must Have" for Busse Hog's! :D

Congrats on acquiring my favorite Busse!:)

I have mine in these brilliant Steelnut dropleg sheaths..........I want to make a new piggy back sheath for another NMFBM with a new Magnum Bear Cub.

Good hunting........Post pics when you have decided.

I will be ordering a leather strap/sheath that you put around your neck and under arm. Not sure what the term is for these. IMO the nmfbm is too hefty to put on my belt considering i'm 5 foot 6 and it falls at my knees lol.

A good way to carry a large knife like this, or a sword, is with a baldric rig. The blade hangs at your side from a shoulder strap. A search here should turn up threads with pics.

This set up works best for me on all large blades.
Both ways are easy to remove and replace in the sheath.
Over the shoulder is very comfortable and easy to conceal with the arm.

Across the chest for the long haul, also very comfortable.

I have two NMFBMs, one of them is OD green blade like yours but I have tan mags on mine, I love that blade color! Congrats! on a very fine blade indeed.

I like to keep my big blades hung on the pack. Still easily accessible and is no different than carrying a pack without a big blade attached.

Hey Scott,

Glad you like your beast. Here's how I carry mine. I go over the shoulder/ baldric style. Almost like a sword. Its very comfortable and accessible. I also added an ESEE pouch to it.

FTR-14c 's method of carry is very good as well. I carry swords like that.

Sorry this is the only pic I have but hopefully you can see how it works. Im right handed so I carry it over my shoulder so that it is on my left side. I draw it with a cross draw like a sword.

Ive come to really like this method for big blades. I used to use drop leg but It pulls your pants down and the blade feels pretty heavy. Attaching it to your pack is good but its not super accessible. I think baldric style makes it feel the lightest while keeping it very accessible.

Here ya go. Got my brother to snap a pic of my setup. This is how I normally carry in the woods. NMFBM baldric style plus maxped falcon.

Here is my first attempt at a baldric rig. I made the sheaths as well.

The strap is actually a horse harness. The local saddlery shop went out of business, and I got the strap for $15 or so if I remember correctly?

The set up I carry now is the B11, CABS and Muck. I have a loop to but through the belt and then slide the sheath through it. Keeps it in place, but no buckles or ties to undue if you want to take it off.

Thank's for all the pic's guy's. This is just what I am looking for. Is there a certain sheathmaker that makes these, or do all of them do it, or do you order the Kydex sheath and purchase the strap's elsewhere? Please send me a PM if you cannot post it on the forum.
Bigfatty, You did a excellent Job. I like that setup as well!

Damn, I forgot how good she looks... I miss her. :( Please send her home.

;) (Good thing I have another!)
Treat her well...beat her hard! :D

Jaxx,
She is a beauty! Better hold on tightly to the other's, as this one is all mine :) I am glad you bought plenty and had some to offer the piglet's that came later. Some don't think of that when they complain about other's ordering a lot of knive's. Best be glad, that they do so! :D

Congrats on scoring a very nice knife. I prefer leather so here are two options for you to consider......

I have a drop leg style for my NMFBM but you could also consider a dundee rig like the one used on my AK. Both made by Jeff at Rainwalker.

Giant,
Thank's man. Those are sweet! I love that AK. My doc told me I need a Cain. I want a AK-47 Cain. I wonder if the Custom Shop can do that? :D
