FTRs got the right idea, all tactical and waterproof. I cover 10 mi or more on foot when I hunt feral hogs every week, and I'm already carrying a 6.8 SPC II AR, 2 mags of ammo, PVS-14 night vison on my helmet plus a camelbak, GPS, usually a pistol, and sundries. Trust me any knife banging off your leg gets old fast, but you need one. If I'm in very close quarters with a wounded animal I want a big blade and a REALLY sharp one. Sometimes a "dead" hog will try to jump up and fight. Scares you to death but a blade is easy to very quickly wield versus snap shooting with the AR or 1911. Don't ask how I know.
