Busse blade on Naked and Afraid?

Yeah,no matter what my wife says mine are not as tough as they used to be. Miss those days as a kid when I could run up and down a gravel driveway barefoot like it was nothing. I do go barefoot at my house most of the time and can handle most surfaces but when you get into the sharp pointy things I just can't handle it like I used too.

Yep. When I was a kid I'd spend all summer barefoot but my feet were never as tough as my little brothers. Just about the time my feet were tough enough to run across the gravel yard at the ranch, summer vacation would be just about over and it was time to put the shoes on and go back to school.

Ahhhhhhhhh "Naked and Afraid".... sounds like many many Saturday mornings I have woken up in not knowing exactly what happened the Friday night before...... ;) ;)

Excellent time to have a Busse with you...

I've been doing as much barefoot as I can for the last couple years, I still can't handle doing that… hurts just thinking about doing it.

The premise is inane at best. The idea of being dropped off in the middle of God knows where sans any type of protective clothing goes against the training of every sensible camper or wilderness trekker I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Even a simple, long sleeved cotton shirt can provide some level of shielding against the brutal rays of the sun. But no, witness our two, seemingly brave victims, sporting nothing but pink birthday suits.

Just the thought of damaging your feet on sharp rocks or sticks makes me cringe. Even a Busse knife, as good as they are, would be scant comfort if one were to have no clothing or protective gear at hand. One show featured a couple that narrowly escaped hypothermia. I actually felt sorry for them and their plight.

Well, I think that is the point of it. Basically, "Congratulations! You are now a soft Aborigine! Good luck with that!".

The barefoot thing does get me. There is some coral that if you cut your feet on it they will never heel. I have known a couple WW2 vet that cut their feet on it and if they stopped taking their meds (steroids I think) even after 40 years their feet would open back up. Some plants will also do this,I fell in some kind of evergreen ground cover in FL. when I was 10. Took my dad over an hour to remove the thorn like things in my palm. My palm would get little green puss filled blisters once or twice a year for over 20 years. Not worth it for a show that they do not even have a prize for.

I like Discovery's new show "American Tarzan" better.
Everyone keeps their clothes on and it's basically an all terrain flat-out race in some of the most nasty country on the face of the earth. Running, climbing, swimming, rapelling, this show brings lumber jacks and power lifters to their knees in agony and failure. Even the Recon Marine got hurt...

Well, u812, I am with you on the 'foot issues'. If you have ever stepped on a cactus needle, you know exactly what I am talking about. If memory serves, there was an episode where the sap of a certain tree caused severe burns to one of the male contestants. It was nothing short of a nightmare for him. And yes, walking around in unknown marine waters could be a serious hazzard without anything covering the feet. A simple SAK with the beloved tweezers might be of some help in the extraction of slivers...but the thought of being stuck out in the woods without the benefit of mobility strikes fear into even the most rigid and seasoned hunters or campers.

A strong man in the wilderness without boots is just about as useless as a submarine with a screen door.

What's "naked and afraid"..?? ...is it a show about bad hangovers or something??
