So, back in 2015 I had my Busse SFNO LE modified by the good folks at Busse - blade was modified and I requested a coating put on it also. My question is, if I strip the coating, will the blade look satin underneath, or will it have the Busse 'stripped' look that looks so cool?

My initial thought was that the blade would still have a satin finish underneath, but I'm not so sure. Looking for opinions.

Thanks!

I've stripped a lot of INFI now and all I can tell you for sure is there is only one way to find out. I've had a few that looked like LE's under the coating and cleaned up really easy, so that may be the case for yours?
Do you have any pics we could ogle? :D

Sure! here's some old ones I have saved, I'll try to take one in better lighting later. I remember seeing a tankbuster in the 'Urban Shadow Camo' coating and I was thinking "dang, I want one like that!"

I’m gonna guess it’s still satin underneath.
“Gutsiest move I’ve ever seen.” :)
Good luck.

I’d bet it will look sweeeet stripped !!! My only thought is if you haven’t stripped one yet ? You may want to seek out one of the service providers here to do it. Like AzTim , there are multiple pics of his work listed in forum.
It’s just a thought :-)

But I’d go for it ! :-)

If it was satin before you had it recoated I think it would be smooth under the coating. I don’t think they rough em up when reapplying a coating. It might take some elbow grease to shine it but I’m pretty sure you won’t have grinder marks or INFI gremlins under.

Keep us posted lol
P.S.
Never heard of anyone doing oppoite of stripping to their knives lol well... maybe carekoted

"INFI gremlins" that's a new one on me:D.

Yea, at first it seemed obvious that it would be satin underneath, but then I thought about whether the surface needs to be prepped first before applying a coating, whatever that entails

That's an interesting looking blade, but it is not an SFNO LE as I would understand the term. Maybe a show special Custom Shop variant?

Just thinking about what I would do if I wanted to paint a piece of really slick steel, I think the best way to go about it would be to hit it with the bead blaster or maybe a media that is a bit more agressive. If I were a betting man my money would be on finding something similar to Double Cut under the coating.

I would have a real hard time touching that, it's looks great! What a great variant, never seen one like that I can recall.

Those are both really sweet knives. Are you thinking of stripping this to use it ? Or just want satin finish back ? Cause if your just going to use it, I’d probalby enjoy it with the coating for awhile. Looks like a really sweet blade with those c/s mods.
