The blade was purchased new, absent choil. I modified the blade to add a choil, which also made a perfect area for striking a fero rod or firesteel. I used the knife heavily in the woods and resharpened on a stone. It is no where near mint condition (which I believe is a $400.00 value), but I do not buy knives to sit on a shelf. I had to see what INFI Steel was made of. I was not disappointed. I have a medium collection of knives and was trying to down size a bit.
