Wondering how these 2 knives compare to each other. I just picked up a fehrman peace maker for my elk hunt, now I think I want something a little bigger just to have with me. My choice is between these two. Either one looks like it will be a good hunting/survival type blade, with my peacemaker as a back up skinner, and my spyderco gayle bradley as my folder. What is everyones thoughts on these two? Thanks. Price wise, they're about the same. The boss jack is a little thicker, probably wont cut and skin as well as the fehrman.

Sorry don't own a Fehrman. I wish I did though. I could see the way this thread might head, I hope it don't though

Thats not what its for. I just need some honest comparisons. Im just thinking of getting the fehrman, but the boss jack is a nice knife, for a little less too. Not sure what to do. Im stuck on this infi, 3v kick, maybe i'll just stick with what I have.

If you already have a 4" fixed blade and a folder I would consider adding a larger knife (9-10" blade), machete, or a hatchet/tomahawk. Being the fixed blades you mentioned are only 2" or so larger than the Peace Maker you're carrying now, I don't see the added benefit of toting around both.

Edited to add: Oh ya as far as your question goes, you really can't go wrong with either

Look into the esee junglas 10" heavy machete. A lot cheaper, can take the abuse ,excellent warranty and customer service. If you already have 3v and infi it might be fun trying some 1095

Both are top shelf knives. I have owned & used both, and I miss both! The differences between both knives would be so subtle...you wouldn't know the difference. Both are super tough, both have excellent edge holding, and both have 100% no BS lifetime warranties. The major difference would be rust resistance. I would expect naked INFI to take the cake in that category over Fehrman's naked CPM. I have to admit I like the blade profile of the shadow scout more than the BOSS Jack due to its bowie shape, but that is purely a cosmetic preferance. I would get both...and sell whichever one you like less. Good luck!

Im not really looking to carry such a big knife hunting, 6 inch would be max, the peacemaker is more for detailed skinning work. The 6 inch knife more for de jointing and other rather heavy work. I have some rc's in 1095, doesnt hold the greatest edge on tough elk hide. Im sure 3v and infi would be better suited for this. I have a war dog also, but these two really caught my eye. Im only looking to buy one. Not wanting to spend 600 plus right now.
