Busse Caption Contest on Twitter!!!

I think I just twittered or tweeted or something. Not sure about all the lingo yet but I will figure it out. This just gives us another place to party and there can never be to many parties.

I have to say, it won't be much of a party with only 140 characters :p

I tried to tweet a couple times under Dan Royd, but I'm not sure if it went through. Little new to the tweeting...

And I think I actually have funny captions this time :)

I tried but not much of a tweeter, this was my entry: "Damn I wish this fence was made of Infi"

WTF is happening to the companies I like so very much? Why, oh why?

Best of luck to those fans of social media and the like.

I don't know about that, man. This forum can be considered social media, can't it? It's all about the people who use it, and you can choose your circle of friends in Facebook, Twitter, etc. I think it's cool that Busse's reaching out more.

I've always found it funny, the dislike of social media, when it is very similar to the forums

Social media, while I completely understand some people's dislike of it, is an awesome tool to spread a company's "reach". People that would have never heard about Busse will hear about them through these outlets. The only unfortunate result of this is longer wait times for us ;)

Could you explain? I'm dumbfounded. I get the Facebook thing, because they don't have the most admirable of business practices... but to say all social media when you have thousands of posts here? Only means social media isn't the right term. What's wrong with Twitter, for example? It's pretty innocent.

I think this wasn't meant to be directed at me?

It was. I quoted you, and I asked you :p you said you completely understand some people's dislike of it, yeah? Just wondering. But that "you have thousands of posts here" is just the indefinite, generic, rhetorical "you." My fault!

Lol, ok wasn't sure since I still a relative youngin' post count-wise. I think that the many social media outlets' hook of always being connected/updated/impulsive can have a pretty annoying effect on certain people. As a result I understand people not liking it / having a negative perception of social media because of the precieved effect it has on other people or the behavior that it promotes.

I don't know what the heck I did, but I feel all twiterpated now. I think I posted something on there....

You're right, this is a form of social media, but it is a discussion forum where you can easily ramp up or down your participation here. I imagine that those other SM's have that option, but the reason I'm here and at the Toxic Goat is because these sites have members who are all basically like-minded. Facebook & twitter, well ya might as well stroll through a mall...or a city central square as far as having common interests are concerned. And...both of these sites (BF & USN) are spam free...at least with a paying membership.
On facebook, you're the product...and I hear what twitter pays celebs to hawk products in the form of "innocent" tweets, I'd say it's a good guess that the same applies there too. Both are great if you're promoting a business, but I'm not. :) And, since I'm not a very social person IRL, I don't need to be constantly "plugged in" on those sites either... But hey, that's just my own view, and obviously not everyone is the same. Perhaps age has something to do with it. When I was in high school, portable cell phones weren't really a reality yet, and they weren't very portable, let alone affordable, LOL. :D I still look at my smartphone and shake my head occasionally... A computer & a phone that fits easily into your pocket...20 years ago or so, that was science fiction outside of a lab!
