Note how knives 2 and 4 are just wearing smooth along the edge. That's normal wear.

I agree that your knife probably had a spot of oil on it when it was coated. The Shop will make that right.

Mine's been stripped but I haven't bothered to clean off the staining that took place while the coating was mostly still there:

I had the same issue with my CGFBM on the spine of the blade after some batoning. But nothing as severe as yours, and like mentioned above its mostly near the tip. I have a few Rats that I use where the coating has smoothed and is actualy holding up very well. I also have a Hell razor that has smoothed an no flaking thus far.

Thanks for the comments fellas, nice to know this is not normal, but as this is a user I suspect I'll just keep on using it and not be bothering the shop about it.

Don't see much sense in getting it fixed then turning around and using it which in all likelyhood will just result in it getting it dinged up again.
