Busse Combat ES-310 SE

We have an older Weber gas grill with porcelain coated grates. It's great. I know the natural wood charcoal snobs will turn up their nose, but the convenience of gas far outweights, IMHO, any supposed advantage of charcoal.

Grill On!

And yes, the BIGGEST reason I spent extra on a Weber is because they last. I've seen 10 year old Webers that have never been covered and still work. My parents go through those Costco/BJ's grills for a 1/3 of the price, every 3 years.

Plus they tend to blow off the sides of peoples houses...

Some people down the road from me blew off their deck and part of their house with a gas grill last Summer.

As soon as Steelnut recovers, I'm ordering an openback dropleg. :D

Yes, I did. I think about an hour and a half. Definitely close to 2 hours. If I had to do it again it would be quicker. Opening the box was overwhelming and I had a 2 year old who insisted on helping.

:D

Not too bad for a first time assembly. You have to agree it takes longer to get everything out of the box and unwrapped than it does to put it together. Best of luck with it and have fun.

That looks awesome! Love that vintage look. It's like buying genuine knives - it's so great to get familiarized with it and grow together, when the item is so durable and high-quality that it endures for decades... I don't personally own a nice grill, but it's just a matter of time, since I love cooking and grilling very much.
Anyway, I wish you some great BBQ time!

PS: Luckily you didn't end up like: "Le Grille? What the hell is that?" :)

Thanks man. I don't do bells and whistles, but I like to put my money into the things I use the most. I think I only did 1.5 rotations as far as loading up the grill and cooking everything I bought. I fed 15 people with dogs, burgers, chicken legs and ribs and it fit just about everything.

It also has the perfect amount of room under the grilling surface for a pan full of wet hickory chips... soaked with beer of course.

Ours is over 10 years old, and sits out all year uncovered. We have replaced the V bars, but I think the porcelain covered grates are original. The small bottom drip pan rusted off. Over the winter we noticed that the large pyramidal bottom pan was falling off, it seems the rails that held it were rusting out. I just got some steel wire and ran it under there in a criss-cross pattern to hold it up. So we're good for a few more years, at least. :D
