Funny you say that. I actually called busse and thought they accidentally gave me green g10. I further looks at and saw it was in fact coated micarta which I immediately gave a light 100 grit sanding treatment to make right again. Looks like the micarta material is different too.

I definitely prefer the older micarta material and milling texture of the previous fusion handles years back.

I agree with you on the SST handle texture - it's much too smooth on the top, bottom and where it curves to the side, especially for a large knife. I'm sure some people will like it, but it's a big step backwards for me. It's unfortunate, because I really like the FF9 blade design.

There is actually very little info about this blade on the forum, i must of read this tread 3 times already lol.
A few questions:
-Will the FF9 be offered again for production?
- Now that some time has passed, what the verdict on this blade, good slicer? good chopper? both? can it be used as camp knife?
-how many knifes are out there, low or very low production? ;)
-Any kydex sheat available? pictures?
-Let's see this bad ass blade in action or in display, i want to see more pictures :D
-How many zombie kills do you have with this blade?🧟‍♂️ JK

That is super nice and very informing. I was trying to decide on the material. I'm leaning toward the leather but i like the desert printed one also. Which one is your favorite sheath?
If i actually wear the sheath, do you see any drawback with the leather one, will it take some abuse and does it scratch easy?

Also interested in what pg&a asked. I just ordered one of the black leather mutants. Sheaths for a smaller blade though.
 
The sheath shown above that looks like leather isn't actual leather. On Davids web site, calls them leather look. Please refer to his site because I do not want to misidentify Davids awesome work.

However, the leather looking one and the one that has canvas are my favorites. Went to mention though, that the leather one is very durable. They are all very nice.

P PG&A , C Ciscocbc - You guys should take a look at Davids subforum here. I am sure you will find more detailed info.

Actually that one is leather covered kydex, one of my Mutants, just like the Canvas covered kydex Mutants.

I make the base sheath

epoxy the leather to it magically

do a lot of magic to make it look old

Then seal the whole thing.

The Leather look kydex is very different in both cost and the amount of work involved.

The Leather is durable but you can abrade it and scratch it if you go brush busting but it should look more interesting.

This is leather look kydex The Red Mega RMD and Warden sheath

Kydex comes in different textures (leather look, Carbon Fiber look, Basket weave) but it is still all plastic

In my experience David does a great job in answering question and explaining, helping one understand and make decisions regarding your sheath needs
