I think the handle length stems from philosophy of use. On other knives you might want more handle real estate to move your hand up and down.

On a dagger like this you'd only move it down the handle to get more reach, and not to add momentum to the swing closer to the tip.

I really like how the thickness of the handle fits in my hand, really fills it up and locks up nicely. But, had I had a choice I'd probably shave down the handle slabs more for easier carrying. Would definitely be compromising comfort in hand if done so.
 
I'd definitely get 4.5 - 5 inch version if they are ever made...or if this one breaks...

Following up. I figured this would be a good picture to post so those who consider getting one in the future, can have a better idea.

Was a bit tough because I had to hold the knives up on top of white coaster for better contrast without resting the blades on stone.

The one on the left is fmv6 the on the right is tg nano. As you can see they have roughly the same taper, and blade thickness.

I thought… “That one must have hand-worked flats.” Pic filters/settings got me.

I remember in some old thread w/nice pics you were thankful someone introduced you to some pic enhancement software. What do you typically use the days to adjust pic parameters/settings?
