Besides the obvious fact that the name already has the word HOG built into it  the Air Force A-10 warthog has a lot in common with what Busse knives mean to me. Heavy duty firepower in an indestructible package!!! Allow me to enlighten some of you on the "beauty" of the A-10 warthog.

My business takes me onto Hill AFB just south of where i live here in Utah, and I ran into a guy that services the warthog, having heard in the news about the pounding these suckers were taking in Iraq, I asked him if this were true and if he had worked on any that had returned like that.

Well, 20 mins later, you would have thought I'd asked about one of his kids getting into Julliard! You should have heard the respect and admiration and pride he has for that machine and what it can due. But especially, the pride in the beating that it can take and still bring the crew home safely! He turned me on to these pics.

Check out the Firepower!!!

Yep, the A-10 is an impressive piece of work. Ever held one of the DU 30mm rounds it fires? They are wildly HEAVY!!! Makes you feel kinda sorry for the bastids in the tanks they blow up...:D :p The only Busse knife comparable in weight is probably the MOAB, and even it may not be enough  :D :D :D

Hi Mark,
Funny you should mention the 30mm round, check out this shot.

Look closely at the fine print around that peace sign, it says "Peace through Superior Firepower" Roger that!

Loved getting to walk around one of those things when my brother-in-law took me on the base he was assigned to. They are wild... 'Course also liked walking around the B-1 bomber and MiG-29 at Wright-Pat... :D :D :D

And just like a Busse they love to giggle at lame attempts to stop them before the job is done simply from a little abuse. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

I wonder who got all the lower serial numbers ... :D

Great pics of the 'Devil's Cross'. If I remember correctly the A-10 was originally designed to eradicate entire Warsaw Pact tank platoons attacking NATO territory ...

However the first war on Iraq back in 1991 was their first chance to show what they are capable of ...

Regards
