We had steak for dinner. Everyone is sitting at the dining room table eating steak and using those godawful black plastic handled serrated steak knives that have been around for 15 years and cant cut butter. I saw the deplorable nature of the available steak knives and before sitting down ran into my room and grabbed my Busse combat custom shop so I could ENJOY my meal instead of hacking and tearing at it like a invalid.

I start to cut into my steak....I hear a loud gasp! The phrases, "why are you using THAT knife?" and "thats not a steak knife!" and other unmentionable filth were tossed in my direction. TO this I replied, my knife is far superior to yours and actually cuts my food with ease. Not only that but it cost me 400 dollars and I'm going to use that mofo as much as I can ma'am!

This woman just did not get it. She said "well if my parents were here they would not have that at their dinner table, youd be kicked out" ..."thats not proper" and blah blahing ensued....I drowned this out with the sweet satisfaction of my steak falling to pieces under my polished edge...not a steak knife my ass.....( we dont use the jerkit in this forum. Please see the sticky by Hammy-thatmguy)(old pic, was to upset over her stupidity to take a cool bloody knife photo)

Who was "This woman" and why was she at your dinner table? Anyone I have supped with would know that I would prefer a sharp knife- and would not have said "boo" when I arrived with one. But, if I had to run to another room for a knife (not likely as my cheapish steak knives are sharp) I would have brought enough for everyone...

Several years ago tonyG set the table for a Christmas dinner of prime rib. Every place setting had an SHBM. There is a pic of that.

They were using cheap, foreign made steel with plastic handles and you're the one who isn't proper? Ha-ha! My family cuts cakes, prime rib, turkey, etc. with INFI. I got the comments at first, but they shut up after I used my dinner prep skills aided with REAL knives. They even put away the electric meat knife!;)

That's why Jerry came out with the new stake knife this year. You sr need one. Maybe a set.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that generally speaking a knife is supposed to, you know, cut?

;-)

TJ, we dont use the jerkit face in the Busse forum. Its been a rule here since before I started posting so if I can follow it so can the rest . Please dont use it again or I will be forced to infract. Not my rules- Im just enforcing.

I am really surprised none of the older guys posting didnt mention:(

Unless that was my grandmother, i don't think i could have been polite about that level of disrespect.

Calling you out at your own dinner table over your choice of cutlery is a substantial breach to etiquette.

I don't think my friends would say a word if i used anything short of a chainsaw.

I told my wife about this thread and asked her if i could use the AK47 i have on order to carve the turkey this year for thanksgiving (we're hosting the entire fam this year)

All i could get out of her was an exhausted sigh... :(

Sorry man! Didn't even see it!

We used a Busse Custom Shop Muk as our wedding cake knife... and Tim wore it the whole day :)

Tim also uses his EDC Hack on his dinner whenever we go out.
