Some time ago i began scouring the web for vids of the busse fusion battle mistress in action, and i quickly decided that i would get one. The problem is that i can't find it anywhere. I want to order one directly from busse and not buy a used one, and i wonder how I should go about this problem. I know this is most likely a really noobish thing, but bear with me ;) I realize that I would have to save my ass off for a while in order to afford one, but when I finally have the funds I want to know where to get one. Please help!

The exchange here, or sometimes you can find one at a show, like knob creek. Or you could try contacting the shop and asking if they had a blank they could make for you in the custom shop. when a production model from the shop is done, its done.

That model is no longer offered directly from Busse (but first, you might want to call the shop and ask if they have a blank, and try that route first).

Quickest is to look on the exchange linked at the top of the Busse sub forum.

Good times, and that model is a great starting Busse!

all of the above is really good avice, the exchange here is your best bet. But also dnt forget abot ebay. I have seen some good pieces go for decent prices, all be it few and far between. Good luck and great choice.

Just remember it's going to cost you a fortune one way or another

Depends on what you consider a fortune, some consider anything over 50.00 way too much to spend on a knife. Others might say that 400.00 is not enough to spend on a really good knife. Yet some, well, not unusual to spend anything from 800.00 to 2000.00 on a piece of cutlery. Its all relative my friend.

You get what you pay for in most instances, especially with the Busse family.

There should be a Ganzaaa sale after blade show, and there probably will be several varieties of Battle Mistress available then, at non-inflated prices.

take your time, you will find a fair price on a nice Battle Mistress. Try not to jump on the first one you see that you like--prices can vary alot so shop around.

+1

The Busse exchange forums is probably your best bet. A BM on eBay, more often than not, is going to cost you more than one on the exchange here.

Welcome to our madness!! :thumbup::D

As you are learning, Busse has an usual sales model. They do not have a catalog of standard models available to order. They offer one model for a while, and then it's gone (pretty much forever)

Unless you get lucky at a show, or have a proxy working for you, you will have to scour the resale market to get your knife.

This a good advice. Some sellers charge more than others. In general, this is a good tiem to be buying, as prices have fallen off since the bubble burst.

There are several varieties of Fusion Battle Mistress, so spend some time figuring out exactly which one you want.

Combat Grade FBM. with the funny corrugations. the best all-rounder IMHO
FBM LE. Thicker, satin, flat grind.
FF FBM. Fat, sabre ground
Nuclear Meltdown FBM. Came as CG and LE. Longer blade, rounded edges. THE Busse Chopper.

Then there have been a variety of variants made for 'Ganzas and Shows. Yes, it can be confusing, but the quest is part of the fun. Good luck!

You must be one of those super HOGs that I hear about. So please do tell, where did you get your information? Did Jerry personally tell you this? Or is it based on last year. Which BMs were avil last year at balde? How many were there? How much were they? Do you have any pictures?
Please do tell more about the ganza after Blade just like they had last year. I'm sure we would love to see some picture.

Hard to tell if you are being confrontational and sarcastic, or if those are serious questions. Words on a screen lack the feeling and non-verbal cues we get in a real conversation.

I'm pretty sure that Rat has not discussed any 'Ganza plans with Jerry. In the last year there have been a number of 'Ganzas, with a wide variety of blades. You can do your own search for threads started by Jerry Busse, and finds lots of pics. I don't know if there were any Mistresses in there, but you can see for yourself.

Anyone that wants a particular knife can post a WTB on that forum. You may just get exactly what you want, at your price. Not all sellers are looking for a big profit on flipping a knife. Years ago, before my time, when the Busse community was much smaller, the Hogs and piglets would happily sell a knife at cost to someone looking. The expectation was that the buyer would pay it forward, and do the same favor for the next guy. Some of that still happens behind the scenes here, you never know, you might get lucky.

thank you for all the good advice! The funding has become available, so the only problem left is to convince my family that I really need it. I expect to succeed with this though, and when I do I will post pics. Thanks again!

I think Rat's idea is an excellent one.

If that does not work out, there are a number of folks here who foolishly insist on selling Busse knives at or very near the original prices. You will find them easily enough on the Exchange or by posting in the Want to Buy section. You can use the recent Busse Knife Price thread in the Busse sub-forum as a solid guide to original pricing.

There is no reason, these days, that anyone should have to pay a high price.

There were Mistresses at Blade 2011 -- saw them myself. Not all were bought when I left late that Saturday.

Hope this helps.

As to whether Guy is a Super HOG -- who knows? Does such a being even exist? I can tell you that I've met him in real life, and he's a fine man I trust.

Haven't met Rat personally, but I've perused many a Post over the past 5 years and I consider him a solid citizen of BF. Perhaps that's good enough.

If you're looking for a regular Fusion Battle Mistress, Knob Creek was a great place to go. There were about 14 brand new combat grade ones available.

And, don't be affraid to have someone proxy for you. There's always people around here that are willing to help others out.

i require enlightenment on the term proxy in this context. I am new here after all :P

Ask someone to pick it up for you. I've done it on several occasions, but I don't have the best of luck at it :o
