I expect, if some one says "I'll take it" they mean, I am telling you I will purchase your item at the terms you listed.

If they post "I'll take it......IF........." They only have it if I find their counter (the If terms).


You have to be fast.

I have sold items to some one who emailed first. I'm always amused by anyone who gets bent out of shape when some one else snags the knife you are interested.

Good form is to just congratulate the winner, or not say anything and practice your "ill take it"


I can't recall ever backing out on an "I'll take it".

I have canceled a transaction where the "I'll take it" was then followed by unacceptable emailed "If.....this......and that...."



I have snaked my fair share of knives from people who "PM'd or Emailed with questions, or offers, etc"
 
"I will take it" or any similar statement should be unconditional from the buyers standpoint. Questions about not represented sheaths, will it fit in my hand, will you ship to my lawn care job so my parents dont find out etc should be asked and answered before the "I will take it" statement.
This should be followed by the seller stating "It is yours, this is how I want payment." Ideally, the prize goes to the earliest timestamped (ganza style, fellas) "I will take it," but the seller has the most to lose, therefore, the right to discretion.

I would not post an I will take it knowing I might back out after asking questions. Maybe an Interested depending on questions.
 
To me there's nothing wrong with saying "I'll take it if..." As long as you realize that accepting that offer is at the Seller's discretion. In effect, you are adding a contingency and making a counter offer. The seller certainly may regard that as acceptable, in which case you have a deal. But if another unqualified "I'll take it" is submitted before the seller accepts your "I'll take it if", know that the seller may opt to accept the unqualified offer.
