Just some thoughts after reading the the article in Blade:
1> a Busse credit card that will give HOGS a discount when using the Busse card when making purchases of Busses at Ganzaas, shows, and ordering:
2> A Busse Store in Ohio where you can actually go to and Buy Busse's over the counter where they are made and see all the wonderful Busse staff.
3> Much more Busse wear: Marines want everything they own to have an EGA on it.. Busse Hogs are also dedicated... Busse wear is a must for us... Even have considered doing a busse tatoo on my arm.... Tatoo's should commemorate something you will take to your grave.. "USMC" Busse, beliefs.. etc..
4.> a Busse Palooza get together... Yes, I know Blade is somewhat like that, but Atlanta and at blade forum has all the other manufacturers there too and it is not totally Busse, although Busse is taking over :-)
5> This is a community of people who are very unique in their dedication to Busse knives and Jerry... some sort of Book should be written about the Busse company, Jerry, his knives, where he has been in life and what the future hold for the worlds best survival knives. The history of Busse, full of info and Pics.
I have seen such an expansion of Jerry and Jennifer's company over the years, it is awe inspiring.. when you put together, great people, a vision, great design and incredible marketing, what can be accomplished... EVEN IN ECONOMIC downturn where it seems like Guns, Ammo and Gold are the only things keeping value or going up... Busse has held its own... think about it.. investment, best knife to have if SHTF, and they just feel good in the hand.
Keep up the Great work, Jerry, Garth, Eric, Amy, Cathy, Kendra, Bubbles, and all the one's behind the scenes grinding out infi...
Your Hogs are behind you.. lead the way..

This sounds good, except for one thing...

With JAXX and LiuKang within driving distance of the store if it were in Philly, Jerry could not make knives fast enough.

They could even put the lights outside that get turned on when a new delivery truck arrives, kinda like Krispy Kreme...

I would like to see a few standard cataloge items that they would stock on a regular basis, 4 or 5 models would be nice. Ones we could order though the Busse Store. :)

OP and i could go aswell.... sadly thats a 3.5 hour trek but the weekends let that occur. ALL FOR IT!

The only thing is that Amy would have to give up her normal job and cook cheesecakes full time to sell there as well!!! Maybe that's not such a good idea.

ah, a Busse corporation.. there is a thin line between putting out Busse in small numbers that allow them to remain high dollar on the secondary market, and putting them out in mass production which would allow hogs to get what they wanted, but the secondary market would be very low on resale, since people could get what they want from the factory... I sell occasionally on the secondary market, usually to finance something I want more, but there are those who actually make selling Busse, swamp rat, Scrap yard an income. I guess there are pros and cons to both sides of massive selling.
Jerry has done a great job and will continue to walk the fine line of getting knives to HOGS and keeping the secondary market flourishing.. I don't think it would look right to have thousands of satin Jacks and Steel heart Is flood the market. But again, it all depends on whether you OWN the piece your looking for or not.
I'm having fun and would buy Busse's evn if I never intended on ever selling them.. Great knives.. I would like to see more HOG get togethers. and definately more Busse wear.

I've sold a few at a profit, so have certainly benefited from the secondary market, but I would be much happier with a severely flooded secondary market that destroyed the value of old knives, and made it easier for me to get blades I'm actually planning to use, not put in a safe or hoard to sell later.

I had to pass on an awesome SH-E at the trunk show, because the price was almost as high as secondary market prices on them, and I wanted to beat on the thing, not save it as an investment. If there were thousands of SH-E's out there, that would make it easy for me to get a tool, not a collectible or an investment, but a sharp object for cutting things. I'm all for that.

I couldn't possibly agree more. honestly, I'm still floored and a bit dumbfounded that people, lots of them apparently, actually collect and not use such useful tools and care about things such as secondary market values in a flippin' knife. it's a bizarre world, filled with odd choices, no doubt. but, to each their own I guess. I don't get it though.

thankfully, the Busse crew manages to cater to both groups well enough in most cases, with the new(er) version of old(er) knives being offered (like the BWM and such). personally, I'd love to see a mass re-issue of any and all Busse knives throughout history. secondary values be damned, if that's what it takes, but, of course, it'll never happen. one can dream though. ;)

Big time!! The shows lately have been fantastic opportunities to score old-school stuff to actually USE. I would never have bought an FSH at second hand prices, and honestly after buying it, it's not exactly my favorite blade, but I got the opportunity to beat the crap out of that knife because I snagged it at a somewhat reasonable price.

And those smooth bolt blades at the trunk show???? You kiddin' me? I'd love to whack one of them through a couple of logs. And I don't care if that sounded mildly dirty

agreed, MM, the shows are where it's at for the comfortable-enough medium. the smooth-both HH was amazing and affordable, and the recent SHSJs at shows too...

granted, being able to call and order xyz (without it being "custom") would be ideal, but short of a giant expansion and completely new business model - I'll take it as is. it works.

damn shame I'll probably never get to beat on an SHBM, or a NICK, or dozens of others that are highly revered amongst the collector crowd, but worse things have happened.

;)

fbsusmc,

god, country and the corp, in that order, sir you must experience the fountain, it is busse specific, others at atl crave the opportunity to join, it is what it is, and what the familia is all about!!!

come and all will understand!!!

wonderful idea, but it is all intact, already, when amy-o has your card info memorized you know that you have done well!!!

My first Busse blade was a user (altho well cared) SH-E that sat on ARFCOM for 2 months before I was willing to pay list for it. I think that was 2006 or so.

A year later, I sold it for $100 more than I paid. (I thought there was something wrong with the micarta. I was young and stupid then.)

If I still had it, I'd get it to you for cost, brother. I'm so much less concerned with profit and more concerned with getting blades to people that want/use them at this point.

Don't get me wrong - I've got plenty of "collector" blades. Snakeskin is a fav. As were the 14+ mostly CS satin Game Warden's I grabbed. But new stuff comes in only to replace old stuff at this point. One blade in, another needs to go.
