And I kind of think that it is this kind of "testing" that stops Busse from making thinner knives. They risk that one of who knows how many nut jobs might pound on one with a hammer and then posting all over the internet that Busse knives break.

That is not a risk, it is a guarantee , there are nutjobs out there that will pound on anything they can get their hands on until it breaks, even more so if they think that it will break easily.
