Busse Folder?

I agree that Busse should just offer fixed blades, Jerry is an amazing designer but a folder is never going to do what a busse fixed blade can do. Jerry should offer a collaberation with chris reeve or strider (leaving all history in the past) or similar. All I really want a Busse folder for is the INFI!! Shapewise, if it look like the proto I wouldn 't get one - like the zilla, I loved the one drawing but I'm not fussed on the finished article !!

I have never seen so many high quality folders as there are available right now. I am sure that if Jerry wants to get into that market, the Busse reputation will upheld. RAT Cutlery is coming out with one in D2 in a year or so. Bark River plans one as well. I am quite content to continue using my Swamp Rat folder for now. While not as beefy as my ZT301, it carries better. When one tries to make a folder tough enough to do fixed blade hard use, one ends up with a tank that is even heavier than a comparably sized fixed blade.

I've gone through phases with respect to this topic.

at first - I, too, wanted a chunky INFI monster folder (ala Hinderer, ZT, etc).

then I decided I'd really prefer not seeing one at all (stick with what works...).

then I began to think a thINFI one is the way to go (like a Sebenza + a BAD).

I concede it could be done, either thick or thin or both, but I dunno...

opinions will be so polarized on this one, it seems too many will be disappointed.

so I keep coming back to - just don't... it's a solution in search of a problem.

the fixed blades from Busse fit a niche, and a folder would be late to the party.

think - Garth Brooks when he went Alternative, or Celine Dion singing AC/DC.

sure, they can, and it's their prerogative, but just 'cause you can, well...

anyway, that's my ten cents.

;)

There are plenty of very fine folders already out there. Some of them cost more than some Busse fixed blades. I think Busse lovers just want a Busse they can carry in their pocket. I think Blade-Tech made the Rat Trap for Swamp Rat. It's a fine knife, but no better than a Benchmade or Spyderco. All Jerry needs to do is have one made to his specs by any of the good manufacturers here in the US and it will sell with his name on it.

that just seems so, well, opposite of the Busse way. and though it's sort of nit-picky, I guess I'd rather see it be from the Swamp if it goes that route. and trust me when I say, I couldn't care less about collector values and such, so I'm not trying to protect any image from an investment standpoint or anything, but it just doesn't quite jive to me. it's like Ted Yost going the mass produced route or something, which just doesn't seem right. but what do I know... I'm no expert anyway, just a user of great tools with an opinion.

Jerry should offer a collaboration with chris reeve or strider (leaving all history in the past) or similar. All I really want a Busse folder for is the INFI!! I think that a collaboration with Chris Reeve to produce a folder with an Infi blade would be very cool. Just my two cents. Maybe with a different blade design.

Just have the custom shop make a infi blade for a knife you already own...Send them a template and you can have a drop in infi blade for your own 1-off infi folder! :p

Just got in a Zero Tolerance "strider/Onion" ZT0301 folder and absolutely love it. It is now my carry knife. great feel and super heavy duty lock and fast opening. I'm content with Busse Fixed knives.

Got one a couple months ago myself. I love it. Tightest lockup ever...no play whatsoever. Great design. Great knife.

The guy was told not to sell it for x amount of time (I don't recall if it was specified exactly) and he waited 5 years before selling it. To my knowledge jerry holds no ill will towards him.

Swamp rat did the collaboration line and there was some cool fixed blades that came from it, but I don't think jerry will be doing that any time soon. Certainly not on a folder, since it's unlikely any folder will be released in the near future.

Just because the folder might not be manufactured in Wauseon, that does not necessarily mean the Busse quality would not be maintained. Personally, I don't really care if Busse makes a folder or not. I have many good choices of quality folders available from other good manufacturers. It would be hard to beat the ZT folders for toughness.

I feel pretty much the same way - if Busse made a folder, I'd probably be interested, but I won't constantly harass Jerry to make one like I would for a CG SAR8 or anorexic BOSS Street. It would be neat to have, but not a MUST-have.

INFI is pretty cool stuff, but where it really shines is on larger knives. An INFI folder would be cool, but 154CM from Scrap Yard would be just as good for most uses.

Even on something like the BOSS Street, I don't think you really see the benefits of INFI most of the time. I just love the handle and overall ergos of the knife, so I want one that's thin enough for some serious bushcraft. If they produced a Swamp Rat version with exactly the same handle, but thin D2, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I carry my Scotch Dispenser everyday in my pocket. Before that, it was a Skeleton Warden.

That being said, a Busse folder would be great. Before that Skelly Warden I mentioned, it was a Rat Trap that was in pocket everyday. So I'm down with the folders from the Busse clan.

it's been common knowledge for a while - I first saw that back in 2005 I think !!

if u can find somebody to make it u can have one made for u i had a batac and a benchmade rukus put together and it works great my next one is going to be a sus scrofa and a buck strider made into a folder it is a little expensive but u have to pay to play
