Busse for camping/hiking

Skunk still shows the Jungle Shadow Camo Satin Jack TAC on The Busse Company Store order page..

Go! Go! Go!

:D

NO E-handle, here in alaska we use our knives to cut things besides air.:D :D :D ;) They still let you go camping in the lower 48?
;) ;) ;) :D The NO is not to big and not to small to handle the bigger jobs around camp.:D

My personal favorite is an Anorexic BA3, but the NO-e (or ZTNO) and original SJ are right up there. It really depends on your intended usage. Are you going to chop wood, or whittle willow whistles?

NO for camping in the Hindu Kush.
SJ or SJT for camping in the Rockies.

The Badgers are a very good choice too, if you don't need all the extra chopping capability of a 6" blade. In fact the 4.5" BA-III (or 5" BA-E) blade might be a bit more comfy for use on game??? Anybody got experience with that one?

Edited to add a little detail:
NO: 6" of 1/4" thick big brutal blade you could dig with if necessary.
SJ/SJT: 6" of 3/16" thick steel with narrower profile for more all-around use, lighter, a bit more user friendly than the NO (opinions may differ), a big favorite amoung guys who want a 6" blade with a more conventional figure.
BA-E: little brother to the NO, really. Same 1/4" thickness but in a 5" blade.
BA-3: Very nice 4.5" blade that makes a good camping knife for those not expecting any surprises.

f-2175, I got the Mini EU-17 just for camping and hiking purposes. It's not too big, but big enough to do some light chopping and other heavy duty stuff. Of course it cuts like a razor. Fits fine in my backpack, and the handle on this thing is a dream. Feels like it was custom-molded for my hand. I highly recommend it.

I would say the SJT LE or the NO-E.

So there you have it! The NO!!!!! I have used the NO all over the world to do all manner of tasks, including deployment duty in Enduring Freedom. It rocks!

Of course the answer to your question is the one you have in your hand :D :p

Nick

Hi,

My camping/hiking blade will be my HOG SJTac LE. Nice thick blade... should handle rough treatment including some prying (such as prying a bracket fungus off a tree to use as tinder). The convex grind should make it a good chopper, without binding. The tip is pointy enough that in my dream world I can poke holes in bears and mountain lions ;) but is substantial enough to be strong.

I'm taking it out tomorrow for a snowshoe hike ... will be its maiden voyage! :D
