Busse guns, ammo, and firearms talk!

I actually swam with crocs in Jamaica on the black river! The guides said it was cool and they didn't attack people and locals were swimming by them spear fishing!

I bet kangaroos are no joke ....I just really don't want to be taken out by a kangaroo..ha. But when the day comes and my dog passes ( who I love and don't want him too) I'll be making a visit down your way. Australia is just a must see !

Nice Gun Dog, Andy ! I am 99% sure that you squashed a funnel web. I am familiar with them like that and prefer them like that. Cool pics, mate ! ;)

The timber stocked rifle is a early 1970s Winchester M70 in .375H&H. Just refinished the stock late last year :)

The brown snake is a Common (also known as Eastern) Brown Snake. It sits around No 2 or 3 on the kill you scale. The black one is a Red Belly Black Snake. They are well down the list at 12 or something (similar to some of the Rattle Snakes). Can't hunt crocs but that is will come again with the numbers ever growing now. I think the squashed spider is a Funnel Web, I didn't look too fast before I stomped it as it was at my back door. I have previously gotten Funnel Webs in the garage so it may well have been. Don't laugh...a kangaroo can easily kick the crap out of a man..!!!

The croc with the head up in my pic above was recently shot by Police after he took a fisherman in the NT here. It was well known on the stretch of river (called Michael Jackson as he has a white/light head and the black/green body). I took that pic in 2008.

Hey Mate that Model 70 is the Shiznit..."The Rifleman's Rifle".....I was gazing at the S&W you gutted and didn't see any small shims...When I rebuild them I put a small shim on the Hammer & Trigger post so they ride on the shim and not the casting....VERY SMOOTH!!!!

Those crocs looks mean man! In Jamaica they were in the black river and I swear didn't even care about people but it was Jamaica so they might have been pothead crocs and they just didn't have the munchies yet! But those are great pics of crocs! I wouldn't swim with those guys!

What are Yall running in 223/5.56....I got black hills ammo in 223 because that was all the store had and I like black hills seems to burn clean and be a damn fine round I do have some 5.56 but it's some cheap stuff if I remember right it's in my oh sh$t mags! But I'm alway looking for better ammo it's a constant hunt since ammo is getting so advanced now!

.... that was the detailed cleaning that one got the day I collected it. It ended up with S&W Australia for a trigger job.... ;)

The Estuarine (or Saltwater) Crocodile is a very different temperament to either the Alligator, Cayman or other croc subspecies. Along with the Nile Crocodile they are highly aggressive, territorial and avid hunters. Here they are known to stalk people and animals that are silly enough to follow a routine around their habitat, such as collecting water from the same spot each day. I have swam in rivers in the NT here but never a leisurely backstroke either, in get wet get cool get out (all done in around 30 secs)..!!!!

Lol...30 sec seems long! Been Round gators and cayman and the Jamaica baked crocs but your right salt water and Nile crocs are a different critter altogether I'm my book...y'all got some crazy critters there man?

I honestly didn't know you could have handguns there? What firearms are restricted there and can you carry them?

Are they gone? Or in hiding...lol.

If they (Aussies) have/had the same laws we do.... There is no hiding them. They were all registered. I've had people that I know have the provincial police (Staties for you) knock at their door to pick up said firearms.

thought about a coonan....would pick one up for the right price, but when i was looking for a .357 mag semi auto, The Lar Grizzly won out. Probably my favorite gun.

Man I'm realizing I've missed a lot just focusing on certain guns and now that I'm older I find myself drawn toward the older more obscure guns or maybe not obscure but guns I've overlooked?

The siren song of the gun hipster: "What are you shooting?" "You've probably never heard of it. It's pretty obscure."

For example, here are some Non-1911 .45s:
