Busse Heavy Heart & Sheath

i'm not trying to be an ass at all here, i was completely trying to help. i'm sure most people on these forums search for busse knives on ebay as well as on these forums and i was just trying to point out that a price adjustment may be in order, which i think i did in a very polite way (no sarcasm), but i guess i was in the wrong on this one. i'm sorry about the mix up and i now know i should just keep my mouth shut.

im not trying to be an ass at all here, if anything im trying to help. im sure most people on these forums search for busse knives on ebay as well as on these forums. im sorry, about the mix up and i now know i should just keep my mouth shut.

I do appreciate the apology, but let me put to you from my angle.

How would you feel if you had a knife up for sale and someone came along and said, "Hey folks, you can get it cheaper over here"? Especially when cheaper ("almost $100 less" in your case) wasn't even accurate?

While I do understand the helpful intentions behind your original post, you certainly weren't helping me out, and I wonder if you even thought about that. I am a paying member of the site. I am NOT a knife dealer. Mainly, I pay to support Bladeforums, but I also enjoy the side benefit of getting to sell here if I so desire. When a non-paying member comes along and tries to derail my sale thread, I take offense.

You also weren't helping out the other members, actually. Given what that kydex rig cost and given that Priority shipping AND $500 worth of insurance were factored into my price, my knife was actually a little cheaper than the one on eBay. My point? Do your math before you post.

All that said, it ended well since I didn't have to repost and since sodak will be getting a nice blade/sheath combo at a fair price. Still, you might give the Announcements at the tops of different forums a read.

i didn't mean to have others go over to ebay instead of buying yours here, rather i thought i price adjustment may have been in order. (see edit) (which i saw was inaccurate after you include sheath and shipping charges) like i said, my sincerest apologies. i probably should have just pmed you instead of blabbing my mouth.

A PM would have been appreciated, and I would have responded with an explanation of how I got to my price.

If you want to dicker, that's one thing. However, I don't believe in pushing people into a price adjustment on the board itself. If the knife's too high, it won't sell, and the seller will either adjust his price or keep his knife. Happens all the time.

Believe me, folks who pay $100s of bucks for Busses know what they're worth. Before I set my price, I considered what I had in the knife and looked at old threads (even looked at that eBay knife) to make sure my price was fair. Then, I factored in the cost of the sheath, shipping, and insurance.

That sheath from Dave FWIW would run you around $60 plus $7 for the custom belt loop plus another $7 or so for shipping. Plus there's the cost of having to mail in your knife (and insure it). You're looking at about $85 to $90 all said and done. His sheaths are well made and worth it, but my point here is that you have to think of all the costs before you make claims about what is cheaper.

Also worth considering: Here, I offered a well-made custom sheath with no wait and no hassles. That's got to be worth something.
