Busse In Field And Stream!

copy that proporker.
me an doink don't agree on a lot of topics, but i must say
you aint hog til you shake the man's hand!

I agree and this is why I HATE missing this years blade. I got inducted online...but it just wont be the same till I meet you all and shake his hand.

I honestly think its great that they made field and stream, I showed my father (I have given him infi) and he thinks its great also. I dont worry about people coming in...they gotta fight for it just like we do:D

The article looks pretty good but I wouldn't want to use the same brand of razors that the author buys.

That flat ground FBM is a very conventional design, spine details are cosmetic and people have been trying to make pretty knives for a very long time. The full tang and CNC scales are the least conventional parts but not really out of the ordinary. Thick knives are nothing new either.

If they had an FBM CG there, the CBT would have been highly unconventional but that's about it.

A Scotch Dispenser is an unconventional knife, a flat ground FBM does not break any new ground but the sum of it's parts is very hard to beat.

Lucid and sensible argument, Hogwash. I guess I was speaking more in terms of aesthetics, but you're right, as a whole knife, the FBM doesn't break too deeply into new terra-firma, however it is certainly a BEAST of a knife. I still think, though, that many readers will look at it and say, "Holy ISHT. Now THAT'S a knife I could beat like a child who stole somthing!":D

I'm down with anything that benefits the Busse crew for their fine work, and while I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion:

I'm also hoping for anything that increases production to be consistent with demand and devalues the secondary market - without sacrificing quality. Knives are not investments for me, they're tools, and my emphasis is on having the best tools be available to everyone for the lowest possible cost (again, without hurting quality or the company itself). as for the speculators/investors, too bad.

hell, let's see Busse commercials during American Idol for all I care, tagged along with a Ford truck commercial, whatever - as long as production can keep up and things change in terms of availability and price trends.

Yeah- I finally saw it today- Congrats Jerry... I called my brother to make sure he saw it... Athough truth be told he didn't need any convincing- I got him a BATAC for Xmas- the voicemail he left me later that nite stated that the BATAC was the "finest piece of steel I have ever seen"...

A couple things that made me think after reading this thread and the F&S article. First I think the reason I have become so interested in Busse knives is the challenge of aquiring them. I am one of the new guys around here, but I think I have a made a descent effort to earn may around the trough. One of the best things about these knives is seeing the same enthusiasm that I have for these blades coming from everyone else around here. It is so great to be able to share stories and just BS with everyone here. As far as the F&S article goes the one thing they did not give was an easy source of getting Busse knives. Yeah people can go to "FLEAbay" if they want to find one, but they are going to have search to find great places like this. Now that is where someone goes from being looker to being an admirer. Once I got around here and saw all the characters and the mythical steel I was hooked. I think I have sold most of my exisiting collection of knives to help establish my new Busse collection. Everything else just does not interest me anymore.
In short thank you to all the old hogs and the Busse crew for making this a fun ride so far. And hopefully for a long time to come.
