I made a couple of custom Khukris back in the late eighties including one which was the first knife ever made out of a maraging steel, (300 something?) Don't recall the exact name of the steel at this time but was told by the reps at the mill that I was the first to use it on a knife. It was probably one of the precursors to Talonite. It was loaded with Cobalt and required 6 hours in a temper oven at 900 degrees to reach a hardness of 58-60.
Hope this helps,
