Okay - I want a Busse Kuhkri! :D

(or kuhkri, kukri, khukuri, whatever name you use...)

I know there have been a few threads on this before, but I thought I would post a poll to maybe, possibly, convince Jerry and his crew to make one given the interest displayed in the other threads. Hey.. they've created swords, right?

All the threads which have asked the same question (without polls) can be found here BTW:

I dream of a Daniel Koster/Busse WSK. That's the only kukri I'd be interested in.

Nice... I'm actually having Jay Fisher create a custom Kuhkuri for me... but I still want an INFI one!

In a heartbeat. 10-12" blade. 3/16" thick.

Heck yea Tim, I'd give it a try...Hope your INFI dream comes true some day:thumbup:

I'm not sure anyone would build me my dream khukuri.... one 18" ang khola at 3/4" thick, one 21" siru at 3/4" thick, and one 18" ang khola at 1" thick...

and I'm looking for heavy stock thick, not just 3/4" at the ricasso that immediately tapers to 1/2" thick, I want 3/4" thick for at least 75% of the blade length....

I'll say YES to every BIG BOY that Busse come out.

Go BIG or Go HOME ;)

I'd buy one, but man would it be expensive if it approximated the Nepalese khuks. Those things are thick from tip to tang. Lotta steel there.

While increased chopping power comes with size, I suspect that most of those monster blades use size to compensate for mediocre materials (as compared to a modern alloy like INFI). There is no need for such a massive blade if you use the correct steel and heat treat.

I really don't have any interest in that knife. But, with that being said, if Busse builds it, they will come, including me!!!

They scavenge a lot of spring steel, which isn't terribly bad steel when you get down to it. Mercedes, from what I've read, are commonly targeted for their springs.

I agree that even better steel combined with heat treat would help matters.

However, part of the chopping equation for a khuk is its size. That big fat spine provides an awful lot of momentum for chopping, and once you get it moving, it takes a nice bite out of wood.

The trade-off is weight, but IMO, in the case of a khukuri, it's worth it. A slender, khukuri-shaped blade just isn't the same. In fact, it's been done. See the Becker Machax or the Becker-Reinhardt kukri. While the Machax is a pretty good chopper, it doesn't compare to the FBM.

If Busse were going to make a khuk, it ought to have some spine like the real thing. Otherwise, it's just a funny shaped Battle Mistress.

no real interest in kuhkris either, but heck, id buy an infi scissor/tweezer/nail clipper set!

Couple of khuks that give a sense of the thick spine...

Another khuk look-alike--the Blackjack Marauder. Decent little blade, but just not the same chopper as the real McCoy.

Khukuris are just not my thing I guess...

I wont be getting any schotch dispensers either... another one that really doesn't do anything for me.
But thats OK... just means I have more for the BloodBathAganza and the SH1a. ;) :D :D
