Busse MAchete????

as a person who has at least 8 close relatives who are in the 300+ range (and several who have died of heart failure and diabetes related illness), yes there are several people who have an unhealthy bmi index who are regulars on this board. I do worry about jerry's health, despite the forum credo of drinking constantly and eating insanely carb loaded burgers (which are very delicious, but dangerous). It's not particularly nice to say it as a generality, but we could all eat better, get out in the woods more often, and exercise a bit more.

as far as the ak47 working like a machete, eh... I would not replace my nicholson machete with it. It's thick at 3/16" and it has a half saber heavy convex grind, so theres alot of 3/16" stock thickness from tip to pommel. It can be used as a machete, but is not really made to act like one. I haven't handled a gladius, but I'd love to see how a ruck with the handle cut down to a 1.5 handed grip would handle.

The thing that defeats an Infi Machete is probably the "price" because there would still be a lot of Infi .... and unless the stock they would be made from can be cut thin so there is not too much metal removed in making them .... the price might well have to reflect the cost of the removed metal and the time taken for them to be made.

The next issue is if made to be flexible with thin stock the heat treatment might well have to be changed to bring it down from the 58-60 Rc normally used .... and that is probably another heavy expense on "time" ....

Still, it would be a great use of the properties of Infi .... if only they could be done cheap

You just have to know who to ask.:)

That thing is sick. I would love to see a real one of those sold.

Jerry is heavy? I know be drinks a lot. That's obvious but I've never seen Jerry to know if he is overweight.

:foot:

another fyi, Jerry doesn't drink THAT much, its all part of the HOG's inside jokes. Geeze.

The AK47 is a sweet sword, and while it can chop and clear, it is not a replacement for a machete if you really need one.

imo.

An INFI machette would probably be up there near $1000 and I could buy a lot of $10 machette's for that price. I could even upgrade to an ESEE machette and buy quite a few of those as well. I am with resinguy in that I would love to see Scrapyard make one. I think even though it would be a little more money it would be the best machette around. And no, I don't think a Ruck or a Bushwacker is a machette in any way. They are a sword and a knife respectively, not machettes.

If I were going into a jungle setting and needed a machete, I can't think of a better buy and user than the Basic 11. when I got mine at the last knob creek, all I could think about was, "this would be perfect in the jungle" light weight, very fast, not a wallet breaker. Some might want a larger ,longer and thinner blade in a machete, but then your comparing a $25 ontario machete to a $297 + tax Basic 11. to each their own, in determining how much money you want to put into a blade that will be abused. I would rather abuse a $25 ontario by whacking weeds, hitting rocks, and the such than a $300 Busse, which i would rather use for more direct use in making a survival instruments, but that's personal preference.
