Busse model like Lean Mean Street, but 5" blade?

Ya, that would be very close to what I'm looking for.

Ideally a SAR5, but with a quillon/slip guard or whatever you want to call it. I just don't particularly trust a knife (or I guess myself) without one.

It's for backpacking/general survival knife. Small clip point, otherwise straight spline with no double cut. I'm really surprised Busse doesn't seem to have a few knives in this area.

It's not INFI but you've pretty well described the Ratmandu (RMD).

There ought to be an INFI Ratmandu.

Third knife down, left side.

That is what I was thinking of as well. The blade is actually 5.5 inches. Very lean knife.

It's got a different handle, but ya might wanna look at the HG55. It's got a thinner (top to bottom) blade, and is about 5".

Ordered one of the ScrapYard Scrapper 5 LE's that Will recommended.

It looks to be almost exactly what I'm (was?) looking for (Would have preferred a straighter spline for batoning like on the SAR5, but the drop looks very slight, so I think it should be fine). The Ratmandu also looks like a killer knife, but for the price I wanted to go with INFI.

Several folks have used their S5CGs for some pretty serious batoning, and not had any problems with the drop point. I think you'll be fine

You will have no trouble batoning. Beat the hell out of it. You have nothing to lose, as they all have the best warranty in the business.

I have a CG Scrapper 5 and like it except for the goofy blade hump doesn't work for me. But lots of other guys like it. Still, it isn't anything a grinder couldn't fix in about 2 minutes.

Enjoy the knife... beat the crap out of it and post some pics. You will be amazed that the knife will be able to shave after batoning lots and lots of wood.

You know that's funny. When I got my first RMD, I *loved* it- except for the "hump". It was like whoever designed the knife has my hands (the handle fits like it was made for me), except whoever decided where to put that thump ramp has thumbs just a bit longer (or shorter?) than mine.

But you do get used to it.

Ya, this will be my 3rd foray into the land of INFI, and not a one of them is/will be a garage queen ;)

I'm wondering if Busse ever made a knife with the same basic, minimalist design as the LMS, but with a 5 to 5.5" blade?

(I've got a BATAC LE, but want something with less mass.)

    . . . . . . Worm Wood! ! ! ! ! ! . . . . . .

Either Jerry is poisoning Garth to steal his softball swing, or the Busse Combat crew is about to put on a production of Hamlet. :p

Neither.

Jerry's recent spate of G.F.D. led him to the perfect design for harvesting worm wood. You know ... for making absinthe.

Jerry's liver needs a new challenge.:p
