Busse, No Regrets?

How very kind of ye

I really like my Tank Buster, despite it having loads of features i do not like normally, such as choils, crazy handle curves and a very obtuse edge at the tip

Yesterday, I took a Busse knife out for a hike for the first time. I've always brought cheaper blades like the becker BK9 /BK2 for my woodwork due to fear that the Busse would either be lost or stolen from me... Used it for chopping wood, batonning, making wood shavings for a fire, and It performed marvelously with no hotspots in the handle or any damage whatsoever on the blade. The becker Bk9 was also used extensively with good results, but the edge rolled and dented... No regrets for the Busses that I have.

My plan is to buy one when my Junglas wears out. Should have plenty of time to save up.

Yeah, the junglas is a great value! I plan to repurchase one once they add an option or two. What can I say, Like them hinderer folder guys, Im a bit partic and like some flavor/options/eye appeal. That and busse fans dont often dog other brands, not that I give 2 shites what anyone else has to say about any other brand in a Busse related thread, jus sayin :D

Never had expeience with busse but I did with swamp rat I received my knife (unsharpened) but had some question after I placed my order. It took 4 emails to get a responce and there is not phone number on there website, I would not buy another one because of this I couldn't imagin trying to get something warranted.

Welcome to bladeforums. FYI-if you ever need to contact swamp rat direct and have minimlal luck, try calling Busse Combat direct and I guarantee one of the girls will take care of you. Sounds a bit off I know but it works no different(one big happy family). Cheers
Eric

No regrets here either.

@Pete1p: Sorry to hear you ran into that experience with Swamp Rat. Maybe your mail got caught in a spam folder? I've contacted them a couple of times now and they have always been quick with a reply.

I doubled the cost of my Hinderer with a new scale, clip, and standoffs within days of getting it :p

I do love the look of some of the Busses, definitely more visually appealing than my ESEEs.

After several months through a botched order process & multiple emails trying to sort it out all the way up to Jerry Busse himself, the knife finally arrived, and I pretty much immediately regretted it.
Ungainly, the grip was configured awkwardly for my hand.

Determined not to give in, I had a custom sheath made for it.
They then sat here in the office for a full three years before I did finally give up & admit it was just not going to work for me. Sold it & sheath for almost what both had cost me.

No regrets?
I have some. :)

Which model? One thing about it, Busse has so many, so so many different models. New, old, big small, medium. Thick, thin, combat oriented, survival oriented, you name it.

You have to get one that will work for your hand size (I am a 2XL, and don't expect all knives to be comfortable to my mitts).

One of the great things about Busse. You can normally get your investment back (often with an increase for older models).

No Regrets is kind of a motto. Go for the knife you want. Sell one you need to move to buy another one you want more. Live your life for you, and don't worry about what others thing? Laugh, eat, be merry?

You name it, No Regrets can mean it.

The Busse crowd is a friendly bunch. Just hang out for a while, and get a feel for the knives. Fill out your personal info, and you might even find that some one near you has a collection they would be happy to let you fondle.

Busse, Swamprat, and Scrapyard have great customer service, and an excellent warranty! (ESSE is another with a fantastic warranty!).

Big,
It was one of the Battle Mistress something-or-others. Steelheart?

I did hang out on their site, saw all the worship, decided to give Busse a try, since I was looking for a good heavy-duty large blade for the ATV.
Ordered it. I did not expect instant gratification, I've done custom orders before.
After a substantial period of nothing, while it appeared from the website that production was under way, I emailed & called.

Took several tries to establish my order had been misplaced.
Re-ordered.
Re-waited.
Re-emailed & re-called.

CS gals couldn't find an order status, had no idea what was in production at the moment, appeared to be unwilling or unable to find out.
I finally got an email through to Busse himself, he was apologetic.
Eventually the thing arrived.
Did not work well in my hand, as mentioned, which is one of the risks you take in ordering without ever seeing one in person.
No possibility of seeing one in person first, though. Nobody I know close to home has ever heard of Busse.

When I made the mistake of posting a less than thrilled 100% positive impression of the knife on their site, it didn't go particularly well.

I was looking for a great knife. It may very well have been one, and I have no reason to doubt the steel.
I don't knock those who like Busse products, or Busse himself. Seemed like a nice guy.
In my case, though, Busse (the company) did not have great customer service, since nobody could ever seem to find out what was going on with my order. :)

The whole experience, coupled with Busse's incomprehensible rotating model/manufacturing/production schedules, the fact that I don't worship any physical object as the Busse site members do, and my intense dislike of hogs from farm exposure as a kid, have all combined to cause me to feel my needs & likes are met elsewhere. :)
And they have been.
Quite happy with what I have now.

Yeah, some things in life aren't for everyone. :D

Precisely. :)
They did quite well before I came along & I'm sure they still are.

The Battle Mistresses would be the 10 inch blades. The Steel hearts are mid sized, with the straight handles.

The company is definitely going through expansion periods. They have had to hire more, train more, and are working with orders from all over the world by three different methods (phone orders, email- often by knuckle heads that don't put any personal information in the emails at all), and through their website, while preparing thousands of of knives for shows).

Might have been an Ash1? Straight handle, 6 inch spear point? It is a classic, in a couple of variations. Not for everyone though.

Definitely a curved handle, two or three different textures on it. Two holes in the extended pommel behind the handle slabs. Longer than a 6-inch blade.
Pretty sure it had Steelheart something in it. :)
