Does anyone know when Jerry started making
knives? Also, the rumor around Bragg was that Jerry made his first knives out of leaf springs. Is this true?
Thanks for any insight on these questions.

I started making knives in 1982. The first steels I used were D-2, 0-1, and A-2. I never used leaf springs because I wasn't really a forger. I have always been a stock removal (grind it off) kinda guy.

Leaf springs can be made into magnificent knives, as they are made from 5160 steel. I was just never the guy to do it as they would have had to retain their predisposed arc. Good for poking around corners and making wooden bowls but that would've been about the extent of it.

Yours in nuclear stock removal,

Jerry Busse

Thanks for clearing that up Jerry.
I know that your knives have always been held in such high regard. By the way, your not just a stock removal kind of guy, your one helluva nuclear stock removal kind of guy.
