Busse Question

Yes, his name was Tom Wheeler. I purchased quite a few knives from him. Any idea what happened to Tom?

As far as I know he posts on the forums from time to time. I know he had some back trouble and it may have forced him to retire young. He got divorced, met a great lady and has been taking it easy for the last couple years as far as I know. But he still lives near the Dayton area.

Man, I love stumbling onto a post like this where I get to learn so much about the people/history/processes involved in making these knives. Thanks for sharing Brules and Chosen-Frozen.

Between my brother & myself, I think we bought at least 8-10 knives from Tom. Great guy.

That bottom knife is an old blackjack caper, I am about 90% sure. I was thinking about getting one a few years ago on clearance - wish I would have along with some of those German weidmannsheil slipjoints now going for 3X what they were selling for then.

Cool pic!!!

The bottom knife is NOT a Busse. . .

The top one pretty much fits the story given by Frozen Chosen. . . .

Tommy is a great guy and he does post here now and then.

The apprentice blades were hand ground in order to teach hand grinding techniques. . . .

Congrats on your score from years gone by. . .

Jerry :D
