Busse Question

Its almost 1/4" thick.

0.22" is just shy of a 1/4" (0.25") You need to go back to your junior high school and smack your math teacher upside the head for failing to teach you that. :rolleyes:

Regarding the pic, all those are pretty much the same. We see four knives but only three price tags. The brown/tan knife has micarta scales, the others have G10 scales. Generally speaking, in the Busse universe, G10 scales cost more than micarta. Props to the other party for showing the prices and being open and transparent.

If you want a more-or-less exact fraction you can read on your ruler, it's 7/32 (0.21875).
 
Thanks guys! My teacher taught me that. I just forgot I guess. :D I just wanted to confirm that it was close to 1/4". That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure.
 
I JUST got an ASH-1 SE, and it is .22 thick. It's the perfect thickness IMO. With the full flat grind and blade width, the blade angle is very good for slicing, but it still had enough metal behind it for chopping if need be. It's a good "do it all knife," based on my needs.

Very cool. It's definitely my favorite Busse model based only on looks. What does the SE stand for? Standard Edition? lol
 
Looks like you're getting something from Trevor. I never know what crazy stuff he has--he has lots of stuff I've never seen offered regularly :p
The way I understand it, all limited edition knives are satin finished, though I'm not sure if this is official/canonical or if it's just been a huge coincidence in what I've seen so far.
Special editions, I have no clue if there's some distinguishing spec shared among them, but there's probably some characteristic they have in common if not in technical specs then perhaps in background story.

I recall the SE ASH1s being double cut, though.

ehhhh I don't really care if it's a SE or whatever. It will always be special to me :o I do want to get it stripped, satin polished & have a wicked mirrored, convex edge put on it eventually though. I'm sure I'll baby it at first & keep it guarded like the temple at the first of Raiders of the Lost Ark! :D

First Busse?
 
I had a little Basic 3 but it was extremely beaten up. This will be my first nice Busse though. The ASH is really my grail knife. I've always loved the look. I got to hold a fatty ASH a few weeks ago & I got a half chub! :eek:

My advice... go slow :p I caught the bug HARD and dropped maybe $4000 in less than half a year. I kind of regret it, I kind of don't, depends on my mood at the time. I don't know :confused: but if I'd gotten my grail first, I'm sure I wouldn't have gone so crazy.

Well... now that I've written that number out and see how significant it is I feel kind of bad :(
 
The SE is double cut, .22 thick, and labeled "2007 special edition." The standard ASH-1 is .32 inches and is coated. Other than that, I can't tell you much!
