Busse Question

All standard ASH-1's are the same size/shape. Skinny= .187" thick, LE/SE= .22 thick, CG= .32" thick.

Basically, it looks like Busse had a bunch of spare ASH-1 SE/LE blanks on hand and decided to coat up a bunch and offer them at a show. They aren't "regular", but they are... get it? ;) :D
ASH-1's rock. Get it! :D:D

I gotcha. Thanks for the info Hogs! You guys kick ass!

By just looking at a picture, you can tell the Skinny from others by the grind-line at the ricasso. On the .22 and .32 the grind-line runs all the way to the top of the blade / spine, as on the knives in your picture:

On the skinny, it ends about halfway up the blade:

Awesome
My advice... go slow :p I caught the bug HARD and dropped maybe $4000 in less than half a year. I kind of regret it, I kind of don't, depends on my mood at the time. I don't know  but if I'd gotten my grail first, I'm sure I wouldn't have gone so crazy.

Well... now that I've written that number out and see how significant it is I feel kind of bad :(

Makes me wish even harder that I could find a job...
That's a lot of INFI even as expensive as it is..
How about a pic o' the pile?

The .22 flat grind ASH-1'1 are very nice. If you have a choice of the four and they are all the same thickness, the 2nd one with the tan canvas micarta handle will have slightly better balance and feel in hand as a user than the other 3, which look like the heavier G10 handles.

Be warned though, once you buy your first Busse, you may wind up getting hooked, so run while you still can. :p
Trust me, it doesn't take long to rack up $4,000+ in INFI once you get the bug...

This was my collection at it's peak, 18 months after I bought my first Busse however I have since had to sell some off as it was more of an investment than I could afford to keep. It was fun while it lasted though and no regrets!

And that's exactly why I feel bad about it :(

I'll have to wait until summer 2012 for the most impressive pile. As it stands now, I have sort of a "Busse subscription" as a friend put it, a bunch of blades on order and I'm paying them off gradually. But I'm getting a new one tomorrow :D (after having sold one off)

Tim, after reading your post, going over my own situation, and talking to a few other hogs out there, it kind of becomes clear that budgeting for this addiction can be pretty tough and can get outta hand. I know we all joke around and the answer always seems to be "get both!" and a rationalization is that you could always sell it on the forums here and at least break even, but to the OP, in all seriousness, be careful! It makes me sad to hear some of the great guys on this forum are struggling financially and I consider myself very, very lucky to be employed.

My intention wasn't to rub it in so please don't feel bad (unless you have a job hidden somewhere for me ;):D).

I am pretty much in the same boat, took advantage of the payment plan on a B10 got a Muk on a payment plan with an awesome Hog and between those, my Skeleton Key and SAR3, it's about $1100 worth... That's not including the RS, SW, HRG2 and Rucki that I had and sold or traded to get the others...:D :p

The Skinny Ash is a bit narrower in profile, I'm not sure by how much, its been a while since I worked with mine. I have to make sure and use the Skinny pattern when I do sheath work for one. I dont know why its different.
