I JUST got a Satin Jack TAC - Black Crinkle finish, w/ snake skin micarta scales in the mail today. It is a beautiful knife, and very formidable, but I need something a bit smaller. I'd like to trade for a Busse or Swamp Rat with an OAL of around 10 inches, with a sheath would be a plus. I'll add or take cash as needed. Pics on request (please, serious interest only) and can even show a copy of the receipt from a week ago if necessary. I can also throw in a survival sheath if needed.

Sorry for my first post being a trade offer,I've been lurking for a while, I'm active on a few other sites and have lots of positive feedback on Ebay. I'll provide references if necessary.

I have a mint Swamp Rat Bog Dog (D2 steel) with sheath if you are interested.
Very sweet knife, light in hand, to say it had awsome performance for D2 would be an insult.. 9' OAL, take a look http://216.69.138.190/bogdog.htm
I planned on keeping it, but I would *really* like a SJ tac :D

I've got an Active Duty with a Buy Brown sheath. Let me know what you think. Rescue2@adelphia.net FWIW, I carried a Mean Street while on active duty as an Infantryman with the 82nd Airborne and never found myself wanting for a larger knife. It was just the right size and didn't weigh a lot, which is nice when you are carrying everything and then some on your back for days on end.

I have a mint Swamp Rat Dog Skinner and/or Bog Dog as well. Both in D2. Both just a hair over 9".

The Dog Skinner has micarta scales and were hand finished by Mike Thourot... I believe less than 50 were made. The Bog Dog is essentially the same blade with "mudder" resiprene C grips.

In general, I'm not interested in trading or selling either of these limited, discontinued blades but I would consider it for a SJTAC. ;)

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for the offers so far. To be honest, I am really holding out for a Badger (BAE) or Natural Outlaw (E). There are alot of knives that I don't know about, so please make other offers, but that is the style I'm looking for. As for Swamp Rats, I really like the SAR, but I am a little hesitant to trade for one without knowing what they have planned for new releases. I think everyone is waiting on that to come out. The Swamp Rats offered so far are great blades, and I'm tempted, but I'd like to hold out for a bit to see if I can get another Busse. I think INFI will handle my environment better.

Thanks again for all the offers so far, and advice from Emails that I have recieved. I'll try and add a photo this evening to add a little interest.

Edit: I'm not savy on posting photos, will someone post for me? Either email or reply in this thread, thanks!

Just out of curiosity, why do you need a smaller knife? Is it against regulations (or the wishes of your superiors) to carry a knife above a certain length?
Thanks. I ask this because a NO is actually a bigger knife, not longer, but wider and really feels bigger. (I am comparing this to my old style SJs, I've never actually handled a tac Jack)

The New Jacks are longer than the old ones and the NO-E is a fairly short knife, so you get more blade for the length. So if you are looking to get the shortest OAL with the largest possible blade, the E-handles are it.

My SH-E is about the size of the SFNO in OAL. So, E's have that advantage if that is what you are looking for.

The only series that supersedes the E-handles are the PBF's

Walking Man, as for your questions, Cobalt pretty much covered it. There is no "Regulation size". I can carry what I want, as can pretty much anyone in a combat unit. I have typically carried a ten inch (or smaller)OAL knife in the past, and been happy with that. It is very easy to run out of room on your body for all the equipment you want/need to carry.

This is my first Busse and I appreciate all the help from everyone so far.

TRADE PENDING FOR NO-E!!!

winmagfrog,

Welcome to BladeForums! Here are some other Busse models you might want to consider:

Model _ OAL _ Edge Length _ Thickness

BA3 __ 9.75" ___ 3.75" ____ .150", 3/16"

MRS __ 8.75" ___ 3.5" _____ .220"

LMRS _ 8.75" ___ 3.5" _____ .150"

(the underscores were added to maintain the table spacing)
(BA3 = Badger Attack 3, MRS = Meaner Street, LMRS = Leaner Meaner Street)

The .150" thick BA3 is also referred to as the Anorexic Badger. Please note that the actual "edge length" is slightly shorter than the published blade length due to the choil.

The NO-E is a nice knife, but being 11.5" OAL, .25" thick, and having a larger blade height, it is quite a bit heavier at 17 oz. than any of those listed above (weights were not published on the other models). The BA-E was listed at 10" OAL, .25" thick, and 12.5 oz., and would also be heavier than any of the ones above.

For lots of photos and other information, see http://www.badmojo.tv
Best wishes in your quest for a different Busse, and thank you for your service!
