Busse temporary knife swaps, INFO and Questions thread

Ok what im suggesting here is for preferably trusted members with positive feedback to trade off for a weekend or what ever agreed timeline to see if they like a certain knife.... is this allowed here?

I have seen a lot of other subforums have knife pass-arounds for people to try out a knife. I have seen them go great... I have also seen them go horribly wrong. But if both parties sent the other something of similar value then there would be less at stake, maybe?

There is no way a lot of us can buy each and every knife just to see if we like it, but if we are allowed to swap on agreed terms then it could make things a lot easier for a lot of us to find the perfect knife. I know this happens behind closed doors, but not everyone knows everyone, or the knives they have... But if it was on a running thread it might work out.. lets say for instance one person posts he has an active duty that he would like to temporarily swap for say a AMS or mean street... Then other members can see that post, and possibly someone who would love to try out an active duty and already has an AMS finds it... Members reading the thread can see that what others are willing to swap and see if they have something they are willing to swap as well. Being open on a thread we could read feedback and everything prior to even contacting about the swap.

Obviously it would take trust and coming to terms in advance what was "OK" to use the knife for, or if using it was an option even, or just handling it to get a feel for the handle.. ect.

So if this is forbidden I apologize in advance but i cant see anything in the rules about a temporary swap. So what say you Crew and Fellow Hogs, Rats, And Dogs???

Active Duty - AMS knife swap? Sounds familiar. ;) Seriously though, neat idea!

Er, then again, I am awful attached to my AMS, as it is my first and only Busse. I don't know that I could let it out of my sight. Stupid sentimentality...

I understand man. I only have one Busse myself and i just got it!! I completely plan to use my NMFSH myself before I swap anything lmao.

But I have a KDSH and some RMDs, and others Rats i might could swamp... And who DOESNT want to throw a KDSH???? Right? RIGHT!!! It was born to fly, everyone should get to throw one!

but before we go listing what we have to swap.... Id like for a Mod or the Busse crew to give us an "OK"

Id hate to get everyone excited about this Idea, only to find out the Crew doesnt agree to it.
 
This will be an example.

I have a ganza cord wrapped KDSH here. Its a user. Feel free to chop wood, cut cardboard, rope, sticks, Or THROW it. It loves to be thrown so dont neglect it. It has a mashed cat sheath and tek-lok, If you prefer it could come with a Azwelke sheath with leather strap belt loop.

I just ask that you dont cut metal, concrete, no destruction test, and dont pull an Oger and chop a car in half with it LMAO.

I would be interested in a temporary swap for a TGLB. Im only intersted in one thats a USER. Id like if it was competition finish...just because id like to see it in person but that makes no real difference to me.
My intentions with the knife is to see if I like the handle. And see how well it would work for a camp knife. I love the design but i have no plans to fight zombies and before I buy it id prefer to see if it works well for me as a camp knife....

Im willing to trade for up to around a week long, maybe 2, or Id be ok with a trade for only a couple days as well. Id prefer to trade with Paid members with positive feedback.

This is GREAT! I was worried Id be the only one into the idea lmao.

I think this could be an awesome "resource" and will also help us get to know one another a little better as well.

I hope we can get a go ahead.
 
this is a great idea, i would be in. i have a user tglb and a user ergo badger that i can loan alternately. there are lots of busse and rats that i would love to hold without having to buy them , granted once i hold them im sure ill get em:) i have been in a passaround on here before and all the members were stellar, this is a little different but the same mind set applies , hogs doing other hogs a favor and being mindful that it is ultimately someone else s property.

Something to consider before joining in on something like this. Rather than being concerned about sending your knife out—I'd personally worry that when all is said and done, there's be more knives coming back than did starting out. Funny how that happens. Haha.
 
Would this be limited to Busse knives only? I'm an outsider so I'm curious. I have the " I wants " for a TGLB with the comp finish, but the knives I have to offer on loan are custom fixed blades or Hinderer/CRK folders.

That is a HUGE thing, everyone involved would HAVE to understand they are not borrowing the other person knife to see how much damage they can do. We would all need to more careful with another person knife than we are with our own.

I have received a few knives for a couple members in another country, when the sellers did not want to ship out of the US. I get them, look at them and then wrap them up. And lock them away until I box them up for the owners. I never cut anything even paper. i dont sheath them or un sheath them, i dont even photograph them unless I am asked to do so, they are not mine to take pictures of. I do this just so i can see the knife and hold it for a second to see if i like it. I dont charge them any extra fees or anything, In this case im including a few un-healthy American confectionery gifts for them as well LMAO

The point being when you have someone else's property in your possession you have to take extra care of it, Trust has to be earned and built.

I have no worries sending my knives to truted members.... Now If the knife i sent came back in more than one piece id be worried lmao but if extras came back I might thank the spirits for the blessing :)

That I think would really be up to the "crew" or staff to decide. But im sure there are some members who would love to try out a hinderer or similar.
