I'd be glad to trade one of my kin (or other knives) temporarily to get my hands on a hinderer. I've been trying to decide for months whether to buy one. I'd be just as interested in a single edge microtech OTF.

If this gets off the ground, i'll post up a list of knives that i'm willing to swap.
 
Usually the biggest failing is when no one steps up to take charge. If you're going to do, DO IT!
Make sure you list your expectation of others should and should not treat your knives, and just go for it.
You learn from your mistakes along the way, but with help from a great group of people, you'll get lots of help if things don't go exactly as planned.
 
Sounds like a cool idea, Richard. Perhaps it could be its own subforum, something like Bussekin Passaround Forum. That would keep everything nice and neat, kinda like the exchange, and all the details of the swap would be out in front of everybody in the event of a situation. Of course that would probably ultimately be up to Spark if it went that big. Maybe a mod will jump in here and give a little advice.

I was teasing. I meant that sampling other busses would lead to buying more. ;)
 
As ia am down to a Rat only. I would consider a swap. I have an itch to try a leaner meaner.
 
Sounds like a good idea! I would want in on the swapping too. Heck I can bring the knife to work with me for a clean up before I sent it back. ;)

Until I hear otherwise, I will assume that Lexi's reply is the official word from Busse Combat. :)

I think that this is a good idea...but has the potential for trouble. Even Mulder experienced the downside of this when his passaround SHBA returned to him after a round with some handle damage that as far as I remember, no one came forward about.

Just a few suggestions...

With these temp trades, both parties are on their own, so take the steps to do things right. Photo your knife or knives before shipping off, so that there's no question on departing condition...and it would be advisable to photo incoming trades as well as when you ship them back to the other party. Good clear, properly lit and focused photos will help to resolve a very high percentage of potential issues that may arise concerning a knife's use while away on trade.

Just like doing a deal in the Exchange, ship with insurance (that both parties agree to) and with tracking. Neither party is the Seller, neither is the Buyer, so if one knife disappears in transit, insurance is to protect BOTH parties from a loss.

Be specific about your conditions for the temp trade in your listing. Make them clear from the beginning. Details like "no abuse, batonning is OK" is very good.

Be clear when discussing terms with the other party, and having a record via email or PM as to the final agreed upon terms is good to have for both parties.

Above all, respecting another's property more highly than your own while in your possession is a very good rule to go by.

...Just some suggestions. :)

I hope that this idea works really well and I hope that the "swappers" take pix and write up reviews for posting here. :thumbup:
